Hurricane Jimena News Update
Last year Hurricane Jimena ripped through the southern Baja region causing flooding and wind damage in the towns of Mulege and Cuidad Constitucion. YWAM San Diego/Baja was able to minister to these two towns through the support of our donors. In Mulege, where there was major flood damage, we were able to send some staff and a van loaded up with new mattresses, bedding and pillows. The families we were able to distribute these to, were overjoyed at being able to have a clean bed to sleep on at night. Despite many promises from local government agencies for help, many of these families are still waiting for help to relocate to higher land so this doesn’t happen again.
In Cuidad Constitucion we were able to assist Pastor Jesus Barraza reconstruct his Church that was destroyed by the hurricane force winds. His previous building was made up of old lumber and pallets, but through the generosity of our donors and another organization, this is now being replaced by a concrete block building and will continue to serve his community for many years to come.
Our work in Baja Mexico continues to help provide assistance where God leads us. |
