Biblical Core Course (BCC)
![]() One of the goals here at YWAM San Diego/Baja is to develop our staff into missionaries who know how to handle the word of God and are ready in and out of season to lead and disciple others. We are offering our first ever Biblical Core Course (BCC) in September of 2009. Our course will be lead by BCC veterans, Christian and Sharee Fox. (Thanks to Danny Lehman who has allowed these experienced leaders from Honolulu to come and help us develop this course). If you are interested in growing in your understanding of the Word, learning skills that will allow you to continually improve in this area the rest of your life, then this school could be exactly what you need. You will examine different learning and teaching styles to enhance your personal study and equip you for any ministry context. Be challenged in your relationship with God, find your purpose in the Great Commission, and embark on this adventure with us!
This course is designed to give you a thorough understanding of the inductive approach to Bible study, equipping you with many tools for integrating the Word of God into your personal life, and using it as a foundation for ministry.
As a student, you will learn how to employ many creative and diverse methods for reading, interpreting and applying the scriptures. You will also be involved in topical seminars and various forms of research, including historical, archaeological, literary and geographical studies.
During the course you will study many individual books in depth from both the Old and New Testaments. We will equip you to work with every form of literature in the Bible, including the Gospels, the Epistles, New Testament narratives, the Torah, Prophetic and Poetical books, and Old Testament narratives thus providing a holistic overview.
As a part of Youth With A Mission San Diego/Baja and a student of this course, we provide a broad range of learning opportunities. Other activities include worship, intercession, small groups, work duties, plus lots of fun times with friends and adventures in and around the Baja of Mexico.
Outreach is a key part of the BCC as it is all about taking the skills taught in the classroom and applying them in a cross-cultural platform. It is a time to practice our teaching and preaching skills and to minister to people in their situations. This allows us to share the Gospel using the Word of God. Another benefit of outreach is coming alongside the local Church, strengthening and empowering the international body of Christ.

“If you imagine the Bible like a treasure map, the BCC is the key to deciphering that map. Once you decipher the map, you can discover the wealth of knowledge and understanding awaiting EVERYTHING that God has for you. Is it just enough to "live paycheck to paycheck" with your faith or wouldn't you want to be "rolling in the dough"?”
“Three months changed my life. Over the course of the school I learned many old and new things. Growing up in a Christian home with a father as a pastor, I grew up with a lot of Bible knowledge. But over the course of the school I've seen my thoughts on some of the Bible change to a view that fits the context of the scripture. It's been a great and stretching learning experience. The beliefs that I grew up with have become my own and I can now back them up with scripture. I no longer have trouble reading the Bible, it came alive for me. I hope it does for you as well:)”
“I didn't grow up in a Christian home and I didn't become a Christian until I was 19. When I started to get into the Bible more and more in my Christian life, I never really knew why the Bible was put together the way it was and why the individual books were written in the first place. After a few years of being in YWAM, I had started to pray about doing a secondary school and God led me to do the BCC in Ensenada. Going into the school I really wanted to get a better understanding as to why the books were written so that I could know how to read God's Word better and really apply what I was reading to my life, as well as to help others better understand it. I feel that I accomplished that goal during my time with the BCC. I have walked away from this experience with a better understanding of the Bible and how to study it to get the most out of it.”
I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to know more about the Bible; wants a strong foundation for further studying; is interested in leading small groups or bible studies; or just wants to learn more. I am leaving with more of a passion for God’s Word, and all the many things we can learn from it.”
