Destination: Haiti    Haiti Blog

9 Day Summer from $795 per person (does not include flight)

Welcome to the YWAM Haiti Mission Adventures outreach site. Initially we created this site to bring awareness and provide ways to be involved with the work in Haiti. It has been over a month since the earth quake and there is still such desperate need there. We have adjusted this site from being one of immediate relief efforts to a blog that focuses on making it easy for you to register your team to go to Haiti to serve Jesus and His people there.

Within this site you will find stories of past teams and individuals who have served in Haiti since the quake. You will also find links to blogs where you will read inspiring and sad stories of what is going on and what God has done and is still doing over there. We also have all the registration info, dates, costs and other pertinent information regarding registering your team for your Mission Adventures outreach to Haiti.

Thank you for your interest with wanting to serve and partner what God is doing in Haiti. Please help us continue to spread the word and importance about what is going on in Haiti and the urgency there is to see people and teams coming from all over over the world to taking a part in rebuilding a nation. Thanks and we look forward to serving with you.

Destination: Costa Rica    Costa Rica Blog

10 Day Summer from $795 per person (does not include flight)

So for your reading enjoyment here is some of the reasons that Phil Cunningham, who works with YWAM San Diego, loves Costa Rica.

I have known the base leaders in Heredia, Costa Rica since 2001. I remember the first time my wife Amy and I met them. We sat down with Diego and Arturo, who was the director back then and he took out his laptop and proceeded to show us pictures of the base. He was so excited, like a little kid showing pictures of the toys he received on his birthday.

He told us about how God had provided a big property for YWAM and what their plans were to do with it. I think out of everything that he showed us, Diego and him were most excited about the soccer field that they had. He also talked about the buildings they wanted to build to host teams. Arturo and Diego are both Costa Rican and their heart for the country of Costa Rica was huge.

We have been sending teams to Heredia, Costa Rica since the summer of 2002 and everyone who went came back fully excited with stories of what God did there through them and their team. It wasn’t until the summer of 2005 that Amy (my wife) and I were able to go with a team.

When we arrived at the airport in San Jose our friends Diego and Arturo greeted us. We loaded the bags and drove through some of the most beautiful country I had ever seen. The hills were so green that it almost looked fake. The city of Heredia was full with people, action, smells and of course soccer fields. We arrived at the base that we had seen picture of years earlier with an excitement of seeing something for the first time in person that you had seen in your mind for years. The first thing that we did was to have an orientation and then off to the soccer field to play.

I remember going to one of the slum areas with the team to do ministry. We worked with a local pastor who runs a church there. It was heart breaking to see the children living in such hopeless situations of poverty. At the same time though, it was beautiful to see the hope that they were given in Jesus Christ through this pastor who cared deeply for them. We saw and knew that God loves these people and that Jesus lives and walks among the poor and hopeless people in the slums of Costa Rica.

What else do I love about Costa Rica? I love the food. I love the weather. I love the warmth of the people. I love the culture. I love the fact that we can go there every year and learn from them and show them Jesus. I can’t wait to do it again with you.

Destination: Cambodia     Cambodia Blog

14 Day Summer from $1100 (does not include flight)

So for your reading enjoyment here are some reasons why I like Cambodia. The first time that I went there was in the spring of 2005. I am pretty sure that as soon as I arrived I felt like I was a kid in Disney Land. I couldn’t stop looking around at the people, the traffic and the countryside. It was a completely different world than I have ever seen before, but I felt at home immediately. It was just this beautiful, hot, busy, surreal place.

I love the times that I have gotten to spend with teams doing outreach in Cambodia. Working on building projects, playing with children, praying over and around the country has changed my life for ever. I have learned so much from Cambodia. I have learned about family, hardship, joy, pain, loss, poverty and celebration. I will continue to go back there as long as Jesus allows, I would love you to join me.

One of the things that I was drawn to in Cambodia was the history. During the period between 1975-1979, in my lifetime, a third of the population was murdered, or died as a result of a revolution by the Khmer Rouge. I remember the first time I went to the prison that a bunch of the executions took place at. The feelings of rage and sadness were almost unbearable. I also remember walking through the Killing Fields where thousands of bodies were laid in mass graves. I can still see the shrouds of clothes and pieces of human bone that are sticking out of the ground as a raw remembrance of what happened. Jesus heart for this country is huge and he has give us the privilege to carry his heart and desire for the Cambodians to know him.

I remember the 4th time I went to Cambodia I met a girl with HIV named Kita, pictured below. Kita was living in an orphanage with approx. 100 more children who were either already sick, or about to be as they were all infected with the HIV virus. It didn't take long before Kita and I connected. The second day I showed up she was the 1st person to greet me and we bonded the rest of the week. Kita and I never were able to speak to each other, because of language, but she did show me her room, let me know that she loved being flipped upside down and love to cuddle and laugh. I will always remember Kita. I wonder where she is today and how she is doing.

I would love you to come with me to S. E. Asia and meet more Kitas, and fall in love with Jesus in a new and adventurous way. I would love to build houses with you, paint churches, play with children who are orphans and experience Gods heart for his poor and needy in S. E. Asia. Jesus has called us to Do Justice (Micah 6:8), to look after the orphan and the widow, and to love our neighbors. Would you pray about coming to S.E. Asia with Mission Adventures doing Justice over there with me?

Want to do an extreme mission trip?...

Bring your team on a Mission Adventures Plus outreach to Bocachica, Colombia, Montego Bay, Tepic, Mexico; Panama City, Panama, Paramaribo, Suriname. Your team will be hosted by the local Youth With A Mission staff. Your team will use a wide variety of creative methods to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ, such as drama, puppets, music, tracts, personal testimonies and preaching through a translator. They will also participate in practical ways at Christian institutions, serving in light work projects such as cleaning, painting, digging, etc.

Destination: Tepic

This city of 500,000 people is 100 miles inland from Puerto Vallarta. It is the capital of the State of Nayarit. Located in the mountains, it is a beautiful example of Mexico's interior. Though close to tropical beaches, the climate is moderate because of its altitude.

Nayarit is one of Mexico's poorest and least evangelized states. Most villages do not have a living church. The strong pagan roots of the area have resisted the gospel and limited the effect of the church.

The spiritual landscape of Tepic is changing. Through prayer and sharing, God's army is advancing.

Mission Adventures Plus is a full service outreach program, so we take care of food, accommodations, ground transportation, training, coordinate outreach, so you as the leader don't have to worry about the details.

Destination: Panama

Panama has beautiful beaches, mountains, and rivers. Spanish is the main language spoken, but many Panamanians also speak English. People of Indigenous, Latin, Caribbean, Asian, African, East Indian, North American, and European descent make this country their home. This makes Panama unique for missions. If you want to minister to Muslims, you can do it in Panama. If you feel a call to the Chinese, they make up a very large part of the population. You name your people group or religion, and you will most likely find it here.

Of course Panama is famous for the Panama Canal, a fifty mile waterway which links the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. After 34 years of effort by the French and the Americans, the Canal opened in 1914. It cost around $640,000,000. More than 80,000 people worked to build the canal. Nearly 30,000 lost their lives.

There are 264 missionaries to Panama serving in 35 different mission agencies. Most of these missionaries are from the U.S. and Canada. That means there is one missionary for every 10,817 Panamanians. So come on down and give these missionaries a hand!

Mission Adventures Plus is a full service outreach program, so we take care of food, accommodations, ground transportation, training, coordinate outreach, so you as the leader don't have to worry about the details.

Destination: Colombia

Are you ready for adventure and challenge? This outreach is not for those who like to take the easy way. The climate, the culture, the language and the people are all very different from what you are used to. This outreach will definitely challenge you in many ways. Are you ready to trust God and step out in faith? Come and see what God is doing in a small tropical island communicty called Bocachica - your life will be forever changed.

The outreach to Colombia will include one or two days sightseeing in Cartegena - one of the hottest, most vibrant and beautiful cities in South America. Most of your time will be spent in the island community of Bocachica, a 30-minute boat ride away from downtown Cartegena. In Bocachica, you will meet some of the friendliest people you will ever meet! The people are very poor, but so generous in the midst of their poverty.

Although some families eat only one meal a day and cannot afford to send their children to school, they always have a friendly smile or a cheerful "Hola!" to give you.

Approximately 12,000 people live in Bocachica, and about half are children. The ministry of Proyecto Libertad, through God's faithful provision, has been able to meet some of the physical and spiritual needs of the people of Bocachica. Proyecto Libertad's ministries include: Health Care Services (first aid and dental); Community Development work, such as building latrines; Children's Ministries, such as our child sponsorship program and the children's feeding center; and Evangelism and Discipleship.

We invite you to come be a part of the awesome work that God is doing in Bocachica!
