Letter from the family:

Hello! we are the family Soto Lozano, we are a family of 5. My husband and I have 3 wonderful children who we love more than anything. My dream as a mom is to give my children a comfortable place where they can live and play. We used to pay rent in a very small and ugly place but we decided we want to leave something to our children for when we're gone so we started paying this land. With our savings we gave our down payment and that day our adventure begun. Since then we started collecting wood and we started working on leveling our ground. Friends and family helped us a lot and a week and a half later we got to build a little room where we are currently living in. Our first months were a struggle because we didn't have electricity or running water and we had a dirt floor so lots of little animals would crawl inside the house. In the end we are so happy that little by little we are creating our own home with a lot of effort and sacrifice. It was hard to connect to electricity but thank God and with our parents help now we have light inside our house. My children sometimes ask me how long we will live in these conditions and it's hard to give them an answer. Sometimes they get sick because the room is cold and the walls have some holes where the air comes through at night. Our roof is covered with plastic that we got from some of our neighbors so that when it rains our roof doesn't leak. I love being in my home so I try really hard to keep my house clean and comfortable for my children. Whatever we've been able to buy it's been with a lot of effort and it would be such a dream come true that Homes of Hope would build a house for our children to have a beautiful place where they can rest and sleep peacefully. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope!!

We were renting for many years in the same place but when I was pregnant with my second child the owners of the house gave us 1 week to leave and thank God my dad helped us and allowed us to live in a little room in his land because we didn't have anywhere else to go. Keyla - 7 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!!! my name is Alejandra, I am a single working mom of a 12 year old, my other children are already adults. A couple months ago I built a litle room in my land for me and my son but it's not a safe place. While I was at work my son got bitten by an animal and he got very scared, since then he hasn't been living with me. He's been living with his grandmother, my ex husbands mom. His father has never been responsible for him but I had no other choice but to send him there so he could be safe while I was able to build something better for him. I call him everyday and I visit him every two weeks. I know he wants to be with me but I can't bring him with me yet. I work everyday but it's not enough. I also have an older daughter who just separated from her husband and has two children, she wants to live with me in my land but I don't have space for them either. They also need a stable home. I thank you so much for this opportunity, for considering us for a Home of Hope. Thank you for helping me to have a safe place for my family, God bless you always!!!

Renovia - Perez Caraveo (blue team)

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Dayana

Age: 23 years old

Job: sales

salary weekly: $100 US

CHILDREN

Zulema - 2 years old

Geraldine - 8 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!!! my name is Dayana, I'm a mom of two wonderful little girls, I left my mom's house when I had my first child and I started selling stuff to pay rent on my own. Years ago I bought a piece of land from my aunt and when I was 18 years old it was completely payed off; but the place where it was would get really bad and dangerous during the rainy season, so I sold it and with that I bought another one that was closer to the girl's school. With the money I had left I was able to build a little room and stop renting. It's been the best investment I've made for my children, so they don't struggle like I did and so I can give them some stability. I don't want my children to go through the same things I went through, struggling and moving around. This way they can focus on their education and have something of their own. I currently don't have the resources to improve my home and where we are living the roof leaks and it's cold at night. It would be such a wonderful blessing if my family and I could receive a Home of Hope, thank you so much for considering us and for everything you do for this families, God bless you!!

The walls of our house are second hand, my husband and his brother built it even without knowing much about construction. It's not in the best conditions our roof leaks when it rains and our room it's only 5 by 5 meters but we've had to adapt. Since being there also our family grew and now the space is really not enough for all of us. We would really love to build something better but my husband's salary is barely enough for our daily expenses. We try our best to administer our finances but we can't do it on our own that's why we come to you to ask for your help. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope!!!!!

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Lucia

Age: 30 years old

Job: Taxi driver

Salary Weekly: $150 US

CHILDREN

Jonathan - 8 years old

Letter from the family: Hello we are the family Romero Ledesma!!! My name is Lucia, I'm a single mom of a wonderful 8 year old boy named Jonathan. I had a very difficult childhood growing up. My dad left us when I was 11 years old and since then me and my siblings started working to help my mom with our family expenses. I started my own family when I was 21 years old with the dad of my son but after a while we had to part our ways because of violence and I went back to live with my mother. I started focusing on God and putting my life together working and serving at church. Later on I met someone else and with him I tried again to start a family but we had to split too because of the same issues. He helped me buy the land I own right now and in january of 2023 we had to leave the house we were renting so we moved to our land in an improvised house we built with wood scraps and a tin roof with a tarp. It still leaks when it rains, and our living conditions are not the right ones but I know God is good and he's the one who has given me the strength I need to keep going and trying. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope. We are so grateful and expectant for you to come and help us build the house we need so much.

When it rains he can't go to work because of the roads and the mud and his job options are limited because his health is not very well. I don't work because I need to take care of the children but I help him by selling things in the community like used clothes and food. I also serve at my children's school in the cafeteria. They don't pay me a salary but they give me part of the lefovers food and that's how I help my husband with our family expenses. FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Yolanda

Age: 20 years old

Job: Sales

Salary Weekly: $100 US

CHILDREN

Kimberly - 20 years old

Letter from the family: Hello! My name is Yolanda, my family and I came to Tijuana running away from violence and in search of a better life 12 years a go. Last year my husband passed away unexpectedly from a very aggressive cancer and it left me and my daughter without a husband and without a dad; and with debts and a big void in our lives. Friends and family have been good to us and have helped us, but as time has passed by we’ve found ourselves again on our own. With my husband’s departure it has been very hard to cover all of our expenses and to pay rent, that's why we got kicked out of the house we were renting and we ended up in the street. A dear friend allowed us to stay in her house for a season, until we could find another place but now they are also asking us to leave. We don’t have anywhere else to go, that’s why we have applied for a Home of Hope. My daughter sells candy at her university and I sell stuff people give us to help sustain ourselves and I also clean houses a couple times a week. We have family in the south but we don’t want to go back because of the insecurity there. My husband and I were together for 24 years, losing him was the hardest thing we’ve ever been through as a family, but we have hope for the future and we are expecting better times for us. Thank you so much for reading our application and for considering us for a Home of Hope.

Letter from the family: Hello we are the family Dominguez Zepeda, we came from the south of Mexico to Tijuana in search of a better life. We've been living in Ensenada and Rosarito with our families but it has been very uncomfortable for both of our families. Later we got to save money for our land down payment and then we started saving to build something but we only got to build the septic tank and leveled the ground and then we ran out of money. We're we've been living they've even robed us and when it rains the roof leaks and the house gets really cold and humid and the kids get sick. My desire as a mom is to be with my kids at home and be able to give them attention and teach them about values and faith. I know you can't help all the families but I thank you for this opportunity of having a safe roof over our heads. Thank you so much!!!
