Prompt 4 - Finding Inspiration
A storytelling process helps you get inspiration and may even help you come up with thoughts and ideas when you feel busy or tired. Writer's block happens to everyone, even musicians, dancers, artists, and public speakers.
However you want to express yourself, you will sometimes feel uninspired. Other times, your ideas can feel too complex to put into writing. Don’t get discouraged.
A process keeps you creative and motivated. Using these 7 steps, you can work quickly and stay organized:
Step 1: Choose the topic each time you add a new spoke to your story, select a single experience, person, event, or even an object to focus on.
Step 2: Identify the Main Message you want to say within your blog. In this guide, the themes are provided. When you know the topic and the main point you want to share, you have the first sentence ready to go.
Step 3: Outline the Story with a simple introduction, the main points of your experience, and write your main message as the conclusion.
Step 4: Add Engaging Details by making a chart of the five senses. Think about each of the main points of your experience and write down any sensory details including sight, touch, taste, smell, and sound. This helps your outline come to life..
Step 5: Write Your Story beside your outline. The organization allows you to infuse your story with emotion and express heartfelt moments clearly.
Step 6: Edit and Revise for clarity, grammar, and coherence. A great practice is reading each paragraph from the end to the start. This makes sure your message is effectively conveyed and that your story flows smoothly.
Step 7: Share once you're satisfied with your story, share it with friends for feedback.
For this exercise, go to your favorite place on campus. As you read the questions, follow the 7 steps. Let’s see if you find writing easier even when the questions are harder.
