Prompt 1 - Why We Love Storytelling

Expressing yourself to the world is easy for some and extremely stressful for others. We all have a voice and a perspective to share. The power of great storytelling is organizing all of your ideas and sharing it in a way that is easy for others to understand and enjoy.

This first prompt is a very basic introduction to gathering your thoughts to tell a great story.

Blog posts can be an opportunity to inspire others towards a kingdom perspective and also engage specific groups of people (followers, donors, family, etc.). Blogs are typically short articles that are published on a website.

Instead of trying to tell one long story at the end of your time at YWAM, each prompt helps you create a small piece. At the end of these prompts, you can use each piece to tell a rich story.

This series of posts about your experience at YWAM will help you learn about storytelling and reflect on your overall goals.

Blog posts can be about anything, but they are often about personal experiences, thoughts, and ideas.

Blog writing is a great way to share your thoughts and ideas with the world. It can also be a great way to connect with other people who share your interests.

As you start to consider this first prompt, here are a few tips for writing great blogs:

  • Tell your story - Sometimes we make things too complicated or try to tell someone else’s story. Focus on your own experience. This will make it easier to write. And people enjoy authentic stories.

  • Write like you talk - The complicated way of saying this is write in a conversational style. When you keep things simple, your story is more relatable and enjoyable.

  • Short and simple - Don’t feel pressure or anxiety to say everything. Blog posts are often short 200-500 words to introduce a subject or idea.

The first exercise is three questions. You can answer each one, just one, or you can write freely about the theme of coming to YWAM.

THE CALLING Isaiah 6:1-8 Isaiah had a vision of God in the temple. God called him to be a prophet to the people of Israel.
