Hi my name is Dora Alicia Alvarez Solario and I am writing this letter to ask for help with a house. I am a single mother of five children, three of which are minors… Riqoberto 29 years old, Esteban 24 years old, Sonia 16 years old, Jacqueline 14 years old, and Alberto 13 years old. My oldest son Riqoberto suffers from a disability in one of his legs which is why he has not been able to find a stable job. I was a person who for many years was involved in drugs and thank God I was able to come out of that four years ago. I had a property which I lost because of my drug involvement. 16 years ago when I was about to have my daughter, Sonia, I did not have the money for birth nor for the baby’s needs and I sold the property to my older sister who allowed me to live on that property for a little more than 15 years. I lived on half of the property that she lent me and the other half was lived in by my niece, daughter of my sister, to whom the property was sold. A few years later my sister gifted the property to my niece as she had two children. As the years passed, both of our families were growing with more children, me with five and her with three. So I made the decision to leave that house and currently I have a property we are paying off between my son Esteban and I. We were able to buy some wood to have a place to live, but it’s a very small space, one in which we’re not all able to be together. My two older sons are currently staying with one of my sisters and my three younger children and I live on the property.
