Hello, my name is Maira and my husband’s name is Javier. We are originally from Veracruz but moved to Tijuana to find work. My husband and I have been together for 5 years and have 2 children together. We were paying rent but everything here is so expensive. My husband and I decided to start saving money for a piece of land. We were able to save enough for a down payment and will be able to pay the land off in 10 years. We are already living on our land in a small structure my husband built for us. It’s only big enough for us to sleep in but due to cold weather- I had to start cooking inside of it too. With so much rain, our home is full of mold and not safe. We can’t afford to keep fixing it. I’m also 8 months pregnant and unsure how we will all fit inside our current home.
