My name is Samaria Galilea Fragoso Ruelas. Despite my youth, I have faced a difficult life and made tough choices due to experiences in my childhood, including a physically and emotionally abusive relationship that led me into depression. However, becoming a mother gave me the strength to move forward and ensure my daughter wouldn’t live through my same story. With nowhere else to go, I decided to separate from her father, and for six years I struggled, facing rejection from some family members and society. I later met someone else who promised to care for my daughter and me, and we had a second child together. At first, everything seemed fine, but eventually, he began to insult me and treat my daughter poorly. With a heavy heart, I decided to leave that relationship, even though I knew it would be extremely difficult without family support. For a while, my sister offered me emotional support, though she has her own struggles. This situation has caused me anxiety and depression, but I am determined to keep going because I know I am my children’s role model. For their sake, even while enduring hunger, I saved up as much as I could to buy a piece of land, hoping with God’s help to build a safe home. I work to provide for them, though I am often absent. Currently, thanks to a friend who offered us a place to stay, I feel somewhat calmer, and she was the one who told me about the Homes of Hope program.
