LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, we arrived in Tijuana eight years ago, and it was a difficult transition for us, since everything felt very different from what we knew in Sinaloa—the food, the customs, and the way of life. During this time, we have been renting and moving from house to house nearly every year. Three years ago, a neighbor told us about some available lots, and that’s how we began the process of trying to build a home of our own. My husband, my children, and I started clearing the land, and some friends donated wood, which my husband used to build a small room and a bathroom—that became our home. However, during the rainy season, water would come in and everything turned muddy. Thankfully, a church helped us build one proper room, so we tore down the wooden one, which had already started to rot. We’ve managed to build two additional small rooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen, but water still seeps in, and everything remains damp. That is why we humbly ask for your help—to have a more stable, safe, and healthy place to live. We would be truly grateful if you would consider our request.
