LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, we are a small family of four. We met 16 years ago and have been together for 13. We used to live with my parents in Ensenada, as they supported us. That’s where our first daughter was born. My husband has always been the provider, and I have stayed home. We got by with his salary and the help of our families. We moved to Tijuana looking for better job opportunities. At first, we lived with my sisters-in-law while we got on our feet, then we moved out to rent a place of our own for more privacy. We found a place close to my husband’s job so he could walk and save on transportation costs. While renting, some friends encouraged us to start paying for a plot of land, and they allowed us to build a small wooden room on their property in the meantime. It was a blessing because instead of paying rent, we used that money to make payments on our land. The room had no floor, and we used a black plastic sheet for the roof, so when the rains came, everything got soaked and muddy, and no one lived nearby back then. Slowly, the area started to fill with more families. We lived there for three years, and during that time, our second baby was born. Eventually, we were allowed to move onto our own land, so we poured a concrete floor and built a basic structure. We’ve been living here for a year now, but it’s not very spacious. That’s why I’m asking for your support—to turn our house into a warm and welcoming home. We have faith that you can help us. Thank you.
