LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, we are the Acosta Ibarra family. I, María, came to Tijuana as a child, and my children were born here. We lived in my mother’s house until, after her passing, my siblings asked me to leave. We rented for a time, but we could not continue because prices exceeded our budget of 3,000 pesos. While working in a factory, a friend told me about land for sale; we managed to save for the down payment and that is where we live now. With pallets we purchased and old wood that was given to us, we built the room we currently have. It is small and very cold, and when it rains, water leaks inside. My children are bullied because of the conditions in which we live, which pains me deeply, as I have promised them that one day they will have a dignified home. For this reason, I seek the blessing of receiving a house to fulfill that promise.
