For us will be impossible to build a house but we work hard everyday to give the best life we can to our kids, because we couldn’t have that.
I heard that still exist good people in this world that can help others. Thank God that He put this good and generous people, you guys. thanks to build our house, now with our salaries can save to buy some warm clothes for the cold and rain but overall I want to live and enjoy my family. And also to stay far away for the suffering that I have everyday with my Dad. He live with us but he doesn’t treat me respectfully and doesn’t pay anything we uses in the house. Letter from the family:

I write this letter to you to tell you a little bit about the economic situation my family and I are going through. My husband, Carlos Daniel Reyes Covarrubias, and I have been together since October 2014. Together, we have a 5 year old son born on March 14th 2016. We were able to begin purchasing our own plot of lands July 11th 2018. My husband and I have been paying toward our plot as much as we can, even often sacrificing other things to be able to do so. For a while now, even before the pandemic, we have been struggling financially. So, I decided to go out on a limb and reach out to you guys for help, seeing if I qualified for a home. For a little bit, I was actually thinking I was going to receive a home from your guys, but then the pandemic started, and I was notified that everything was suspended temporarily. After that, we tried saving up a little bit of money to build a room-type of shelter on our plot of land to live in , but I got really sick, and wasn’t able to go to IMSS, because they were not attending people anymore due to so many cases of Covid. After going to various specialists and doing many different tests, they figured out I had 3 rocks in my gallbladder, and that was why I was so bad. To try to help with the pain, and as a treatment, they gave me painkillers, but they were very expensive. Because of this, little by little, we had to waste all of the money we had saved, on medicine. A little while later, thanks to God, IMSS granted us economic support so that I was able to have the operation that I needed. After that, I was able to return to work and was able to start helping my husband with the expenses and savings again. When we were finally getting a good rhythm, my mom Lila (who is actually my grandma, but who has raised me and is like a mom to me) got sick with Covid. She got very sick and it was very severe. She's 72 years old. Along with my husband, and uncle, we pulled together all of our resources and finances, to be able to afford all of the medications and treatments that the doctor had prescribed. Thanks to God, she beat Covid! She helps us out a lot by watching my son when I have to work. However, no matter how much we try or what we do, it feels like we have not been able to make any progress or do anything with our plot of land. My husband is working full-time as a brick maker. I was working a full-time job monday-friday, but now I am only working 3 days a week because my son’s schooling is online and he needs help with school. Because my mom is not that tech savvy, I have to be here with him to help, which means I can’t work as much as I would like, and because of that we haven’t been able to earn as much either. For the payment for our plot of land, my husband pays $131.25 dollars, which is even more for us because we get paid in pesos, have to convert the little money we have, pay rent, pay our bills for water and gas, and gasoline, and then with the little money leftover from that is all that we have to use for materials for our home… which is even less if my mom Lila, or son get sick, and we have to take them to the doctor or buy medicine or such. Actually, we don’t even have enough money monthly to cover those costs, so we have to keep asking to borrow money, sometimes from my uncle. So, right now we are renting a little house, it's a house of a family friend, and we have been living here a little while because they rent it to us for very cheap. However, it has no division, it’s just all of us all together, my mom was forced to live somewhere else, and overall it is bringing a lot of stress and division to our family. I hope we can hold onto our hope in God and our faith. Even if we don’t end up qualifying, at least we tried the best we could, and don’t have to live with the doubt of “what-if”. God bless you guys! Sincerely, Grecia Guadalupe Valenzuela Carreta

Letter from the family:

Hello Homes of Hope: the motive I write this letter is to explain my situation in this moment; Everything started two years ago when my husband and I wanted to have our own house, but I realized I was a pregnant. We decided that the money received for my disability insurance was for a down payment for the land also we wanted to give 100 dollars but we couldn’t because our little daughter died and he payed funeral expenses, after 18 my dad died too. They were very difficult days and with a lot of suffering, everything we work for almost lost it. But then my sister in law came with a economic plan because she knew about our project that is our house, she helped us to finish the down payment for our house. So I’m asking for another down payment so I can build a room and a bathroom, we couldn’t make a bathroom because of the pandemic and we needed to take care a lot the money, in that time my husband and I lost our jobs for 3 months. When everything started to look better, my husband had an accident and hurt his right leg so he couldn’t work for more months. Our family only had my salary to live and we needed to pay the land, so I went to the offices and I exposed my situation and we get to an agreement. But after everything is getting better again, I have the news that I’m pregnant again, that for me was a big surprise and after the lost of my little girl Alondra I decided to get a surgery to not have more kids; But I was 5 months pregnant now. So all the money that I received for my pregnancy was given to the payments of the land so now I’m not behind. We live in only one room with 4 kids and I want to give to them a better future where they can feel secure and comfortable. Right now we are living with only one salary because right now I’m “vulnerable” for my job. I would like if you can help me with a house, because when it’s windy it’s so cold inside because we don’t have a good roof everywhere because of lack the of money. Thank you so much for respond to our calling Homes of Home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, to help a family to build a house and more than a house a home were we are going to feel happy and secure. Atte: Fam Zepeda Vega

We decided as a family that we did not wanted to pay rent any more because of the many issues that it brings and it was just hard but it has been 11 months since we took that decision and we do not regret it, being able to live in our place is a challenge at times, since everything has gotten more expensive and out income continues to be the same. My husband rents a taxi in order to work, but while we have the rainy season and living in muddy areas it becomes quite hard to him to go out and work and mostly all the city of Rosarito gets flooded by the rains making it even worse for us to be able to move and work to produce an income for our family, and due to the low income we receive from my husband's job we are not able to build a safe and somehow a comfortable house for our family to keep them safe during this time.

Letter from the family:

Dear beloved Homes of Hope, my name is Ana Karen Guiterrez Martinez and I’m going to tell you a little bit about my story and the reasons why I need a home, as well about the dream of having my own house. At the age of 14, there was a man who took advantage of my innocence, leaving me pregnant with my first child, who I named Mariana. Identifying as a single mom at this point, since the dad did not want to accept this responsibility, it was incredibly difficult. I was only a girl myself, but my child quickly became my greatest blessing, as well as my biggest worry. She was diagnosed with Asthma, which he inherited. There were very sad moments, especially as I watched her get worse. When she turned 2 ½ years old, we received the sad news that her father had passed away. We went through very hard years trying to give the best we could to my daughter. A while later, I met my second partner with whom I had two more beautiful girls, named Kimberly and Brillit. Everything was going well in our relationship until we had an economic crisis and some complications with my next pregnancy, causing my partner to make the decision to pursue work in the United States, in search of the American dream. Which quickly became a nightmare for me when he completely disappeared from our lives, again leaving me as a single mom, now with the responsibility to care for three daughters. I moved back to my mother’s house, at this time Mariana got even worse, and they detected Cataracts in her eyes. I didn’t have money to pay for her surgery, and had to ask around for financial support. At the same time, Kimberly became infected in her urinary tract, which caused her a lot of pain and hot flashes. After many tests, they were not able to prescribe an effective anti-bacterial medicine to kill the infection. After much searching for a way to provide for my daughter, I was able to get Mariana’s operation on one eye. I was also finally able to find a solution for Kimberly’s tract infection too. Rooted from so many problems, and being forced to face them on my own with my three daughters, without even realizing it, I fell into the world of drugs. To the point that I almost lost my life because of them. It was a very difficult process, terrible, and dark. But in those moments, I would ask God for strength and He helped me escape that horrible world. I felt that in that moment of prayer He took me by the hand and pulled me out, and today I see God did a miracle with me. Shortly after, even my thoughts became more positive. I was able to get a job, get on a good path, began moving forward with my daughters, I even met someone! He was a man who was a single father, a hard-worker, and together we have made a beautiful family. We have been fighting for our home, growing our family, and have worked as hard as possible to complete the first step in this process which is paying our lot. Sadly, our wages don’t allow us to build our own home with livable conditions for my 4 children. I know there are people with even worse conditions than us, and there’s not a day that goes by that I don't ask that those people would also have the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, but at this moment I also wish with my whole heart to have my own house too. I long for a home full of love, happiness, smiles, for my humble family. I give thanks for the lives of every single person working with Homes of Hope, and for the opportunity you are giving me to qualify for a home.

Goodbye, with lots of love, Gutierrez family

Letter from the family:

I send my cordial greetings to you all! The reason I am writing this card is to ask for your help in regards to receiving a home. Because of my financial situation, I am unable to give a worthy home to my children. We had built a small house on the plot of ,and that we had bought, but when it rained, everything started leaking. Then came the pandemic, and we were forced to pay for internet, so that the girls could continue studying online. About 3 weeks ago, my father passed away. I was forced to go asking around to borrow money. Now, the situation is even more difficult for me to try and afford to buy wood or things to fix the leaks. So, because of all of this, I am asking for your help. One of my co-workers told me that Homes of Hope helps build houses for families in need, and I consider myself to be very much in need. I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Dominga Reyes Valencia

Letter from the family:

Because my mother passed away and I have felt very sad. I was her only child. I heard that there was more work here for me, and the father of my kids, so we left everything and were encouraged by one of the children’s aunts to come here. It has been very hard, since her husband was not in agreement from the beginning, and that made everyone feel bad. However, thanks to God I was able to secure a job as a guard. Even though they don’t pay me very much, it was enough to buy enough food for me and my kids, and to afford the rent for one room for us to stay in. A little while later, I was able to get another job, but they didn’t allow me to have my kids there, so I would leave them in the care of their grandfather or the neighbor. However, then I was cruelly evicted from that place, and wasn’t able to find anywhere else to say, so that was when I decided to live in this room here.
