First, we would like to thank you and the Lord for the great work you do through your ministry. We are asking for your help in receiving a home because we believe our children deserve to live in a dignified place and also to feel comfortable. Our current home is in bad shape and falling apart. Every time it rains, everything becomes more and more damaged! My daughter gets sick all the time from constantly being cold and wet. My heart feels sad that I can’t protect my kids how I should be able to. My husband is the only one working right now and I help him whenever I can. We can’t move forward with a home on our own because we barely have enough to pay our bills. I mostly ask for your help for my children, they deserve it. Thank you and bless you.

Hello, I write to you hoping to share a bit of my family’s story with you. We pray you will be able to help us receive a home. We are originally from the state of Guerrero in Mexico. When we were there, we lived near family and that made us very happy! However, finding a good paying job was so hard and we were always battling to make ends meet. Many told us that moving to Tijuana would bring us a better life with a well paying job. My husband decided to come to Tijuana first to look for work and find somewhere for us to live as a family. We now have been living in Tijuana together for 4 years. We made friends with a very kind woman who loaned us money to buy a piece of land and now we are paying her back. I can’t work as my daughters are small and need me. I also have my little sister who has lived with us since she was 5 years old when our mom passed away. My husband works very hard to support the 6 of us. When we found out about Homes of Hope, we were overjoyed! Receiving a home would change our lives forever and we could also pay off our land faster. We want our girls to have everything they deserve and want from life. Thank you for your consideration!

Hi, my name is Dalia. I write this letter to you sending warm wishes and hoping to express my current situation with you. I’m a single mom to two kids, both attend school. Right now, a friend is letting us borrow a room of their house. Although we are thankful, the room has many problems such as not being sealed up well. A lot of dust and dirt get in and because of my lung problems, it’s very dangerous for me. When I was little, my father beat me and because I wasn’t taken to the hospital right away- I became sick over time and eventually had my right lung removed. We would love a safe place to be able to call our own. I give thanks to God for keeping me alive and for giving me my children. I want to give my children everything! God bless everyone working with the Homes of Hope program! Blessings

Cardiac Casa - Rogriguez Leal (Green Team)

Date Build: Fri3 - Sat4 March 2023

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Elda

Age: 34 years old

Profession: street vendor at the border

Salary Weekly: $70US

CHILDREN

Name: Karen - Age: 7 years old

Name: Magali - Age: 14 years old

Letter from the family:

My name is Elda and I’m a single mother of two girls. I’m from a small village in Guerrero and speak the Mixteco dialect, it’s a little harder to speak in Spanish for me. I got married in 2007, a year later we had our first daughter and moved to Tijuana in 2010 since there was no work in our village and we didn’t have money to buy diapers. My husbands brother let us stay in a room in his house. My husband and I started working and after a while I became pregnant with our second daughter. With four mouths to feed, we were struggling financially again. I worked Monday through Friday and sometimes even the weekends to pay for food, water and electricity. After having my first daughter I started having horrible headaches (migraines). Once the headache starts, I have to lay down in a darks and quiet room until the pain goes away. Through the years the headaches have become worse and I have to be careful to not lift heavy things or spend to much time in the sun. I’ve been having migraines for 14 years now but I try to be strong for my girls since I don’t have anyone to help me. Three years ago my husband left us for another woman. He doesn’t support us so I’m left alone to take care of everything. His brother let us stay with him but after a while they started treating us badly and it’s been hard for me and the girls to live there. From the bottom of my heart, I ask you to help us with a home since we don’t have the resources to build our own house. The money I make selling candy in the border line isn’t enough for us to live on and for my girls to go to school. All I ask for is a save home for my family. I thank God for placing you in my life. Thank you so much.

Hello, we are the Martinez Mejia family. We are originally from the state of Morelos in Mexico but migrated to Tijuana in 2014. We arrived not knowing anyone and started off by selling candy outside our then 4 year old son’s school. Little by little and with the help of kind people- we were able to make a food stand at a swap meet where we sold quesadillas. We were doing okay until the pandemic hit, then we were forced to close our business. Several months back, we were finally able to open our business again with the help of an aunt. I had to be on bed rest due to a high risk pregnancy; our son was born premature but is now okay. Money is very tight right now and we don’t have enough to make ends meet. My husband is currently sick and in treatment. Our biggest dream is to offer our kids a better quality of life. We live in a small room where we get rained on and where the wind enters from every angle. We are so happy to be able to present our situation to you, we pray you are able to help us. May God bless you tenfold for all that you do for others!

Letter from the family:

My family and I write to you with the desire in our hearts to receive a Home of Hope. We long for a feeling of safety and belonging that we can experience as a family. We have been sharing a home with different family members on and off for over 10 years and although we appreciate the kindness of others who have helped us- we would love a sense of privacy. Also with the age of our children, they are starting to experience feelings of being uncomfortable in a space that belongs to others. We have always worked but have experienced hard times along the way that keep us from moving forward. My husband tried many different things to advance himself in his career but to no avail. Through our trials, we have come to know Jesus as our Savior. We know that He restores hope and has certainly healed our hearts. Jesus is our fresh start. Life changes for the better when you walk in obedience and give everything your all. We believe that everything will work out for us and that God has a purpose for our lives. Thank you for reading our letter and for hearing our cry for help!

Hello, my name is Mary. Please receive warm greetings from my little family. I would like to tell you about my family; my 2 year old son, Elias, and myself. About 9 months ago, I learned my husband was being unfaithful and that’s when everything changed. We went from stability in most areas, to having everything taken away from us. The property we have now- we’ve had awhile. In the divorce, my ex-husband gave us all rights to the land. Now, I do every job that I can to make money from home- I’m terrified to leave my son in the care of anyone else. I have no help from family either, as they all have their own needs. My greatest desire is to give my son a beautiful life and a safe home! I pray the words of our story touch your heart and that we could be considered for a home. We are currently living in a small makeshift room that won’t last long, we just need help. Thank you and may God bless you!
