Age: 42 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello! We are a family from the south of Mexico. We left home after losing everything in our town. We got scammed by a family member and lost our house, the one we had built with a lot of effort. We lost family members, our economic stability and many things. So with the little we had we decided to embark to start again in Tijuana. We sold the little we had and in our old car we drove from Chihuahua to Tijuana. We didn’t know anybody here but we started renting a little room. At the beginning we would sleep on the floor. It was a very hard few months, but we also got to know God in a deeper way. My husband and my daughter were working selling snacks in the streets while I was working in a pinata factory. We wanted to follow God and start attending a church, so we prayed and through a neighbor we started going to a church meeting on Tuesday and that’s how we met some of the YWAMers. They helped us and even gave my husband a stable job at the ywam base as a security guard. My husband has diabetes so it’s a great blessing that he gets to have a job with medical insurance. We currently live in a borrowed trailer in a land that’s not ours. We pay for the bills and we take care of the owners house and garden in return. Not paying rent allowed us to save for a down payment for our own piece of land and we’ve been giving monthly land payments. Still our living conditions are not the best. The trailer is very small and our daughter is a teenager. We would love for her to have her own space and we would like to have some privacy for ourselves too. That’s why we come to you to ask for your help. Our future is very uncertain cause we could get asked to leave at any moment but we know God has taken care of us until this day and he will continue. Our daughter wants to study to be a doctor and having a stable and comfortable home would be such a great way of supporting her so she can accomplish her dream. We are praying for this home and for you guys, thank you so much for everything you do to help families like ours!!!

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Alely

Age: 37 years old

Job: Sales and manicurist

Salary Weekly: $ 150 US

FATHER: Jose

Age: 44 years old

CHILDREN

Luna - 4 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!!! My name Nallely, I’m a wife and a mom of a little 4 year old girl. The story of why my husband can’t be physically with us is very complicated but you can ask me more when we meet in person. My mom has been a great help to us during this season. My daughter and I live with her and she helps me take care of her while I work sometimes. I do many different jobs, sometimes I work as a manicurist, sometimes I sell things and other times I clean houses. All those jobs help me be close and available for my daughter. Living with my mother has helped us so much in our economy because we don’t have to pay rent. I met my husband through one of my clients, she introduced me to him and we’ve been together for the past 7 years. After a long time of waiting and wanting, I got pregnant and it’s been a true gift from God but also it’s been a challenge to have to raise our daughter by myself. Our families have helped but still it hasn’t been easy to parent alone for so long. In my moms’s house there’s a lot of other people living too and some of them want to influence in the way I raise my child. My daughter and I really long to have a place of our own and some privacy. We want emotional and economical stability and we know one day when my husband can be with us we will have it. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope in the mean time. It would be such a great joy to receive this wonderful gift, God bless you always!!!

Letter from the family:

Hello!! My name is Daniela, I’m a young mom and wife. We’ve been struggling a lot with renting and living with our family and moving around and trying to find a stable place to live in. We’ve had problems and disagreements and after a lot of battling for many years we’ve been able to acquire a piece of land. Thank God it was donated to us. That’s why we’ve come to you now. A house in our land would be such a huge help for us. We currently live in a borrowed house, we don’t pay rent there but it’s a very dangerous and desolated place. My mom and my brother have been battling with addictions for a while and I’ve taken responsibility for my two little sisters. One of them is 6 and the other one is 4 years old. If we receive a home, they would also live with us. We’ve been working in our land leveling the ground and making a bathroom but because of our situation we haven’t been able to build a proper shelter. If you could help us with a home you would be providing a safe place for three little children who desperately need some stability. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope. God bless you always!!!

We’ve lived in our land for the past 4 years in a little house that was already here when we arrived. It’s in very bad conditions, when it rains the roof and the walls leak. It’s a very small house with two rooms. One we use as a common area and the other one is our bedroom. My mom is living with us and sadly she has to sleep on the couch we have in our common area. As a family we dream of something so much better, a home where we can have peace and love and where our baby can grow safely. Thank you so much for taking the time to consider our petition and for the hope you provide to families like ours. God bless you all!!

Addicted to life - Ruiz Espiritu ( Green Team)

Date Build: Friday 19th - Saturday 20th, July 2024

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Rosaura

Age: 39 years old

Job: Gas Station

salary weekly: $220 US

CHILDREN

Laila - 13 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!! My name is Rosaura Espiritu, I’m a single mom of three wonderful children. Two of them are adults and live with my family and study in the south of Mexico and one of them, the minor, lives with me. I started coming to Tijuana back in 2019 in search of a better life and better opportunities. The salaries where I come from were not enough to sustain all of my children and their school expenses so I had to move. At first I had to leave without them and I would send them the money for their expenses. Since then, I’ve had to go back to my city a couple times because my parents have gotten sick and I wanted to support them. But with my sick parents and my salary again not being enough to help them buy medications I had to go back to Tijuana to be able to provide for all of that. Seeing our situation and that the rents were very expensive in Tijuana and constantly going up I decided to buy a piece of land for me and my children. My biggest desire is to have all of my children with me one day in our own home. My daughter and I are currently renting near our land but our dream is to be able to live in our land in something that belongs to us so we don’t have to be moving around constantly. I’ve tried to save to do it on my own but things always come up and I end up spending the money on something else. But God knows our desire and I know his times are perfect. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and to consider our petition, God bless you!!

MOTHER: Leslie

Job: Stay at home mom

FATHER: Jesse

Age: 26 years old

Job: Sales

salary weekly: $170 US

CHILDREN

Liam - 2 months old

Letter from the family:

Hello!! We are the Bravo Gonzalez family, we ask for your help because our need is great. We are living in a small room someone lent us for a short term. Our time there is running out and we don’t know where we will go. We have a two-month- old baby and we fear for his safety. Our income is very low and we don’t have enough to build a house on our own. Right now only my husband is working and he’s sustaining our family. I can’t work because I have to take care of the baby. The room we’re currently living in has some holes on the walls so it’s very cold and it affects the baby’s health. We try to put clothes on the holes to prevent the cold from coming in and the mosquitos but it doesn’t help much. When it rains our roof leaks and there’s a lot of humidity in the walls and in the floor. We don’t have any windows so on very hot days the room is suffocating. We have to share the bathroom and kitchen with the family we live with, so there’s not a lot of privacy for either of us. We are a small family who dream to have their own home. Sadly we haven’t been able to save enough to build something on our own. We don’t want our children to spend their childhood moving from place to place. We wait in God to receive the miracle of a home. Thank you so much for considering our petition, God bless you.

Letter from the family:

Before anything else, we want to thank you so much for this opportunity and the support you give to families like ours. We are a family of 5, 3 little girls and my husband and I. On June 22nd we received a very sad call, telling us our home that we had built with a lot of effort was on fire. The fire started with a neighbor and it reached our house. When we found out it was too late to do anything. But even in the middle of our pain and our questioning we have hope and we’ve seen God’s hand with us. We work very hard and we serve God and we know he’s always working in our favor. It has been a very painful process but we know he’s in control and we have hope that everything has a purpose. A lot of our memories we had made in that home were burned but we know in our new house we’ll make new memories too. We thought it was the end, we felt lost, but it was only the beginning of a new story for our family. Even a couple hours after our tragedy we received a call from Homes of Hope and we are so so grateful for everything, thank you for this new beginning for our family!!!

Three of them do live with me and depend on me fully, two of them are adults, one of them still lives with me and the other one has become independent. I’ve rented the same house for the past five years. It was cheap and comfortable at the beginning but now because of the rains the house has become very deteriorated. The house is full of moho and the roof leaks. Because of that I decided to start paying for a piece of land so we could build something there someday. Our current living conditions are affecting my baby’s health because of the humidity but normal rents are very expensive, that's why we haven’t been able to move anywhere else. Hello! My name is Cristihan Yoel Francisco Leon, it’s a pleasure to write to you and greet you. And I hope this letter finds you and you can learn what I’ve been living all this time. I am from the south of Mexico and because of the economy there me and my family left in search of a better life and a better future. When I turned 18 I left my home to start my own family. I met my wife and we started a family, five children later we are still together and growing in the good times and in the bad times. Everything was going well until the rent went very high at the place we were living in and we weren’t able to sustain ourselves anymore. My debt increased and one day when I came back from work my family was outside the house with all of our stuff. They kicked us out. I searched for a place to stay but without money and no one to help it was very hard. Eventually we landed in a piece of land and we built a little room there to stay until we could know what to do. Later on we bought the land we are currently living in and we moved there. We’re still making land payments for it. Sometimes it is very hard with the land payments, school expenses, food, sickness and everything in between but I know the Lord will continue helping me. I just want a place for my children where they can be warm and safe. I will continue working hard and I know God will not abandon us or forget about us. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, I will keep on fighting because I know God is with me and he doesn’t let me fall down.

Our house is not in the best conditions and it’s in the countryside so there are a lot of animals in the surroundings and I’m scared that someday they’ll come inside the house and bite one of my children. I want something better for them, I want them to be safe and feel safe. I want them to rest better, our house is very cold and we don’t own much. I am writing to request support for building our house, as we do not have the financial resources to do so ourselves. With great sacrifice and effort, we have been paying for our land, but only my husband works while I take care of our home and children. We have an 8-year-old daughter whom I take to school, and a 2-year-old baby, which entails significant expenses. Despite this, we strive to make ends meet.

We deeply wish to have a beautiful and secure place where our children can feel comfortable and safe, without enduring the cold nights that are common in our current situation. Our house currently leaks when it rains, and we haven’t been able to save enough money to build a proper home. We are constantly forced to choose between buying food, paying for the land, or saving for construction.

Your assistance would make a tremendous difference in our lives, providing my children with a warm, dry, and safe environment.

Letter from the family:

My name is America, and I am writing to seek your assistance. I live with my husband Alejandro and our grandson Adán de Jesús, who is in the sixth grade. Adán has been with us for two years and is the reason I keep fighting every day.

We are requesting your help to obtain a house because my illness has prevented us from providing a proper home for our grandson. As he grows, he needs his own space, which we cannot afford due to our financial situation. Our current home is in poor condition, especially during the rainy season when everything gets wet despite our efforts to protect it with plastic. The sun and wind only make things worse, and we often have to use buckets to catch leaks. A beautiful tree helps prevent our old wooden house from collapsing, but water still seeps in everywhere.

During the Santa Ana winds, our house is at great risk, making it very unsafe for us. I suffer from chronic bronchial asthma, which severely affects my lungs, and I often cannot work. This, combined with the costs of medicine and the inability to repair our home, has made our financial situation dire.

My husband works, but his income is not enough to cover our needs. Therefore, we humbly request your help in providing us with a better home so we can live more comfortably and safely. Your assistance would mean the world to us, especially for Adán's well-being.

Thank you very much for considering our request.

Sincerely, America

Letter from the family:

Hello!! My name is Getzemai, I’m a mom of two wonderful children and waiting for my third. My family and I are from Acapulco, we came to Tijuana 8 years ago in search of a better life. We had to emigrate from the south of Mexico because of the insecurity, and the lack of opportunities. We first arrived to live with my brother but then we went to rent on our own. Seven years passed by renting from one place to the other until we decided to use our savings to build a land. We wanted to build something but we only had enough to buy a little trailer, even the land and make half a fence. It was urgent for us to start living in the land because we couldn’t continue paying rent anymore. So one week after we gave our down payment without running water, electricity or our fence finished, we went to live on our land. At the beginning it was very scary because we didn’t know anyone in the area and my husband works at night but at least now we had something of our own and we felt relieved for a time. In December and January though the rainy season started and our trailer leaked very badly. We got some tarps to put on the roof but they would break with the wind and rain again would come inside the house. My husband is a waiter but we also sell things in the flea market two days a week, but with the rains we could not go to sell things so that affected our budget too. In the middle of all of that a friend spoke to us about Homes of Hope and we applied to receive a home. We applied and went to the orientation. There someone talked about how sometimes we are desperate or depressed and we ask God for a sign and this could be the sign we were asking for. I left encouraged and with a lot of faith for the future. I’m worried that when my baby is born in July or August we still won’t have a place for him but also I know that it could be worse and we can adapt. Still we trust in God and we know he can help us and he listens to us and he can work through you. Thank you so much for everything and for considering us for a Home of Hope!!

Letter from the family:

First of all, receive a warm greeting. My name is Elisa, and I am the mother of three children. My eldest, 22, no longer lives with us. My 14-year-old daughter is still in school, and we have a baby who is one year and four months old. I live with my partner Alfredo, the father of my children, who works to support our family, while I take care of the household.

We have had our land for over six years, a donation from the government, but unfortunately, we have been unable to build on it due to various reasons. Let me share a bit of our story and some of those reasons. When I met my partner, we were renting a small apartment and working at a restaurant—he as a taco chef and I at the cash register. He was invited to work in another city called Ensenada, but things did not go as we had hoped. We faced many problems there and decided to return to Rosarito, moving in with my mother-in-law due to our poor financial situation.

After some months, my partner managed to contact a neighbor of his mother, and we found a cheap place to rent. Unfortunately, the owner passed away, and we were left without a home once again. I was pregnant at the time, and it was a high-risk pregnancy. Sadly, I fell very ill and lost the baby. A couple of years later, I became pregnant again, and this pregnancy was also delicate. I had to attend private consultations because I was unemployed, and my partner did not have social security. The consultations were very expensive for us, but for the safety and stability of my baby, we did everything we could to pay for them.

It has been very difficult for us, but when we learned about Casa de Esperanza, we felt hopeful that we might receive some help. This is why we are reaching out to you for assistance.

Thank you very much for considering our request.

Sincerely, Elisa
