Letter from the family:
Hello, we are the Maximo Carballo family. We are writing this letter to you because I’m a single mom to three kids. I work part of the day and also at night. I have to leave my kids home alone while I work nights and I hate it. Our house isn’t very secure and also, when it rains or there’s bad weather; everything filters into the home. We don’t have family in this area and no one to turn to for help. We needed to flee from the state of Acapulco where my youngest daughter’s father is involved in drugs and has gone crazy. He tried to take her from me and tried to kill me. The police wouldn’t listen to me and I felt helpless, so we chose to leave quickly. I think what I most want for my children is security. A nice lady let us stay with her a few weeks while I looked for work and then she rented a small room to us. I decided to try for a piece of land and put a downpayment on it. My work donated some lumber to me and we are now living on our land but not in great conditions. Please consider helping my family and I, we would forever be grateful.
