Dear Homes of Hope team,. my name is Patricia, and my story begins in childhood, when I was 10 years old and my parents took me to California, where I studied through high school. I always dreamed of becoming a nurse, but I couldn’t pursue it due to my undocumented status. Instead, I got married, but my husband made mistakes that led him to prison. By then, my family had already returned to Mexico, so I was left completely alone and had no choice but to leave the United States. Since I didn’t know Mexico, I stayed in Tijuana. Here, I began a relationship with the father of my youngest son, Eduardo, but it didn’t work out. He never wanted to go to church with me, and our life together was filled with insults. That’s why I decided to separate, and since then, life has been more peaceful. I bought my plot of land six years ago when I was still with my partner, and we both worked. Now, being on my own, I haven’t been able to continue building my dream of a proper home. I currently live in a wooden house, and when it rains, everything gets wet.
