LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, I am a faithful believer and I know that God has a plan and divine purpose for each person. I come from a very humble background and was the product of a rape. My mother was an indigenous woman, defenseless, and when I was born, her parents gave me up for adoption. I was welcomed into a home where I found light, love, and hope—I went from a gray world to being part of a family filled with love and compassion. They became my parents, my pride, and my example to follow in life. Today, only my mother is still with us; she is 75 years old, and my father passed away 15 years ago at the age of 69. We are originally from Durango, where jobs are scarce, which is why we came to Tijuana five years ago. We asked for shelter, and thanks to God, doors were opened for us. I found work at a restaurant, and we began saving for a down payment on a piece of land. Over the years, we have lived in various rented places, always adjusting to our income, expenses, and the land payments. My daughter, who is currently in high school, helps by baking cookies to sell. I also had a son, but he passed away; even in his absence, he continues to guide my steps. My children are the reason I wake up each day with hope and faith. My daughter only has me, and I fear leaving her unprotected, as I am her only support. We built a small room, but the Santa Ana winds destroyed the roof, forcing us to return to renting. At the moment, we are also housing a cousin and a nephew. Your help could truly make a difference in our lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
