LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, we have been living in Tijuana for 19 years, renting different houses while trying to pay lower rent since we don't have a job that allows us to qualify for a loan to build. In 2018, we had the opportunity to start the process of acquiring a piece of land, so since then we’ve been paying both rent and land payments. During the pandemic, we almost lost the land, but out of the desire to own something, we started cleaning the lot and managed to get electricity and potable water. We were about to build a small wooden room, but unfortunately, my mother-in-law had a stroke, and all our savings went toward her medical care. Recently, we heard about your organization and, with all our faith, asking God for help, we submitted our application. We want to move to our land, especially because the house we currently rent is in poor condition—the roof is falling apart, there’s a lot of moisture, and the rainy season is approaching. We have the hope that our daughter can begin university while already living in a home of our own.
