LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, I am a mother of three children. Four years ago, my father passed away, and since then, we have been living with my mother and sister, as I separated from my partner due to his increasingly violent behavior. We met at work and, after three years together, decided to live as a family. I continued working while my mother cared for the children, but eventually, we decided that I would stay home to focus on their education. After my father’s passing, tensions between my partner and my family grew unbearable, putting me in a very difficult position. We moved to a house provided by his parents, but he no longer allowed me to see my family. After the pandemic, he lost his job and we both tried to get by selling whatever we could. Although his family supported us, he became more aggressive until, with the help of a friend, I managed to escape. I returned to my mother’s home, where we now live with the support of each other, the widow’s pension, and my sister’s income—she even left school to work. The house is very small, with only two rooms, one bathroom, and a shared space for the stove, refrigerator, and dining table. Recently, I found out I’m pregnant again—something unexpected but which I now see as a blessing. For this reason, I humbly ask for your support in helping us build a dignified home for my children. I truly thank you for allowing me to share my story.
