LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team,

First of all, I would like to thank you for all the support you provide to our community and for considering us. I am a mother of four children. With my first partner, I had Hugo, who is now 19 and lives independently, and Lourdes, who is 16 and currently living with my mother (her grandmother), as we don’t have enough space in our home for her to live with us—this is one of the main reasons why I am requesting your support. Every time I speak with my daughter, she cries because she wants to live with me. I separated from her father due to domestic violence. Later, I began another relationship, and I had my daughter Dalia, whose father distanced himself as soon as he found out I was pregnant and has never taken responsibility. While working at a factory, I met my current husband, with whom I am now married and have a son named José Miguel. With great effort, we joined a savings program to make the down payment on a piece of land, and when our son was born, we left the factory to start a small clothing business at the street market, while my husband also does masonry work. Our income barely covers the land payments and food, so we are currently living in a small house built by my mother-in-law next to our lot. My elderly father, who has vision and hearing problems and needs special care, also lives with us. When my mother-in-law’s other children or relatives visit, they stay to sleep here as well, and honestly, it is an uncomfortable situation. I thank you in advance for your attention and for giving us the hope of having a home.
