LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, I would like to share my family’s story and ask for your support in achieving a dignified home for us. I am a single mother of four children and recently became a grandmother. My daughter, the baby’s mother, is also alone, as the father chose not to be involved. She experienced health complications during her pregnancy, and since then, I have taken full responsibility for both of them. My son Josué just started high school, and Ángel is in middle school; my children are my driving force to keep going. Recently, our situation worsened when our landlord raised the rent to more than double, which forced us to look for a new place to live. I haven’t been able to build much—just a floor and a bathroom. The father of my children has never helped us, and he recently became seriously ill and is now disabled, which makes it even more unlikely that he will ever support us. I am originally from Veracruz, and since arriving in Tijuana, I have worked in whatever jobs I could find; currently, I clean houses, although the work is not always steady. Thank God, I’ve been able to continue making payments on our land, and I’m close to finishing. That’s why I turn to you—with all the faith in the world. I am not asking for luxuries, just a decent place where we can live in peace and continue fighting for a better future. I am completely willing to help in any way necessary; I just need a chance. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read my letter. Thank you for the incredible work you do on behalf of families in need. May God bless you abundantly and multiply all the good you do for others.
