LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, receive warm greetings from our family. I am originally from Michoacán, and about five years ago, I came to Tijuana with my oldest daughter, who is the child of my first partner. He was involved in bad things and would sometimes disappear for weeks, which left me having to find ways to feed my daughter on my own. That’s why I made the decision to move, with the help of my mother. I started working and, with great effort, managed to save enough money to make a down payment on a plot of land that I’m still paying for. I currently live there with my partner, with whom I have a baby. At the moment, I am not working, and my partner is responsible for all expenses. A year and a half ago, we built a small room, but now that there are four of us and my oldest daughter growing up, I would love her to have her own space. Unfortunately, we don’t have the financial means to expand, which is why we are turning to you, hoping to offer our children a place to grow up without worries. Last year, the Santa Ana winds knocked down one of our walls and part of the bathroom, and when it rains, water seeps into our home. I truly hope you can consider our family, as having a house would be a tremendous help for us.
