LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, I would like to share a bit of our story with you. We are from Guerrero, from the Costa Chica region. Two years ago, we arrived in Tijuana in search of better opportunities, as the place we came from was overwhelmed by crime and drug addiction. That’s why we decided to emigrate with the hope of seeking political asylum in the United States, but we were asked for large sums of money to supposedly help us cross, so we chose instead to find work in Tijuana. By God’s grace, we found a job and were entrusted with a small trailer to live in, located on the property where my husband works. It wasn’t easy, but we had no other place to sleep. With faith, we started cleaning the trailer, which was in very poor condition, and placed cardboard on the floor to sleep. A few months later, a friend advised us to look for a plot of land with affordable payments, and after saving for a year, we were finally able to buy one. We were overjoyed to finally own something, even though we still didn’t know when we might fulfill the dream of having a home. One day I saw your posts on Facebook and felt encouraged to register, putting my faith in God and hoping for your support to help us build our home, so we no longer live with the fear of being asked to leave. Because of our current situation, my husband is only paid minimum wage, with the excuse that we don’t pay rent. Also, during the day, we usually have to stay inside the trailer because there are workers present on the property. Thank you for giving us hope. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much. May God bless you.
