LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, our family is made up of four members: us, the parents, and our two daughters. We arrived in Tijuana on September 6, 2020, with the desire to build a better future. We are originally from the state of Guerrero, where we lost our jobs during the pandemic; we used to sell bags of fruit, but my mother-in-law told us about job opportunities in Tijuana, so we decided to try our luck here. At first, we rented the house where she lived, but it was later taken back, and due to high rent prices, we moved into another shared house with coworkers, though it was not very comfortable. For this reason, we saved money and bought a piece of land together with my mother, who was able to build her wooden house; we have not yet built ours, but she returned to Guerrero and lent us her home. Now, with our second daughter and my husband unemployed, we turn to you with the hope of receiving support to have a safe place for our girls. We support ourselves by selling cakes, and my husband takes on maintenance jobs, but we live with constant worry about not having a secure home. We are very grateful for your consideration, as this represents a great hope for us.
