LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope, I was 16 years old when my son, José Raúl, was born, and he is now 13 years old. He was born in Rosarito, and because of complications during his birth that we attribute to the medical care he received, it became necessary to administer adrenaline directly to his heart. As a result of what happened, José Raúl lives with cerebral palsy; he does not walk or speak and requires constant care and support. Some time later, I had my daughter, who was born without health complications. Years later, the father of my children left us, and the three of us found ourselves without a place to live or the resources we needed to move forward. Because of this, I returned to my parents' home and began cleaning houses to provide for my children. Since then, a very important part of my life has been caring for José Raúl and accompanying him to his therapies. I take him to Teletón to receive the care he needs, and it was there that I met Fidel. Over time, we decided to build a life together, and later our son Mateo was born. Fidel and I have now been together for six years, building our family and facing the responsibilities of our household together. We currently rent because, although we dream of having a home of our own, we have not been able to build one. José Raúl's care and needs represent a significant part of our family expenses, and our resources have not been enough to begin construction. Today, our family is about to enter a new chapter: I am 38 weeks pregnant, and we are joyfully awaiting the arrival of our baby. As we wait, our desire to have a home of our own has become even more meaningful. After so many years of doing everything I can to provide a safe place for my children, it would bring us tremendous joy to welcome our new baby into a House of Hope—a home where José Raúl, his siblings, and all of us can begin this new chapter together. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to learn about our story and for everything you do for families.
