LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope, we are a simple, humble family with limited financial resources. We are originally from Veracruz, but we met in Tijuana 23 years ago, and this is where we began building our family. In time, our first baby arrived, although at that point we did not have the proper living conditions we wished we could have provided for her. For approximately 12 years, we rented different places to live. Moving from one place to another eventually led us to make the decision to look for a piece of land where we could someday build a home of our own, stop moving so often, and provide our children with a stable place where they could grow and play. For a period of time, we had to pay both rent and the monthly payments on the land. For us, it was an enormous financial commitment, and there were moments when we thought we would never be able to finish paying for it, but little by little and with a great deal of effort, we have continued moving forward. Building on our land has not been easy either. We began by putting together a small room with pieces of scrap wood and using a blue tarp as the roof. We did not even have a complete bathroom. Living this way was difficult, especially during the rain and because of the moisture, cold weather, and strong winds. Despite these challenges, we continued doing what we could and eventually managed to build another room. Although it still needs many improvements, it has given our children a little more space. Thank God, all of our children continue attending school. At this time, the father is the only one providing an income for our family, so our resources are limited and continuing construction on our own has been very difficult. We have watched your videos and have seen some of the work you do to help other families. We have faith in God and believe it was not by chance that you came into our path. We continue to hope that one day our children will have a safer and more dignified home. For years, we have been building our home little by little, first with pieces of wood and a tarp, and later adding whatever our circumstances allowed. What we desire most now is to complete what we began with so much effort, so that our children will remember this land not for the hardships we experienced, but as the place where our family was finally able to put down roots. Thank you for making it possible for families with limited resources to continue believing that their dreams can also become a reality.
