LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, 7 years ago, I came to Tijuana seeking to provide stability for my children. It was a very difficult decision, but I was only earning 900 pesos a week, and my husband couldn’t find a steady job. This was our last attempt to change our situation. I moved in with a brother in a tiny 3x2 meter room with a bunk bed—we didn’t even fit in the space. I brought my youngest children and was able to get them into school. My other son couldn't come because his father didn’t allow it, and I spent weeks without any news from him, which made it very hard for me to stay calm and trust in God. My youngest son began getting sick often, and since we didn’t have health insurance, we had to pay for private doctors, which took all our money. My son started working, and I offered to make breakfast and lunch for them, which allowed me to earn a little more. I still had no news from my other son and wanted to get him back. Thankfully, I got legal help and, after three years, I was able to bring him with me. A year ago, we started making payments on a plot of land. Now, my husband is thinking of leaving us, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to continue paying both rent and the land, which is why I just want to move onto the land, even without electricity, as long as it’s a stable place for my family. Thank you for helping so many people.
