Dear Homes of Hope team, I am originally from Escuinapa, Sinaloa, and was taken to live on a ranch, where at the age of sixteen I began living with my husband; a year and a half later our first child was born, and three years after that our second daughter. My husband worked as an assistant driller in the mines, and we were very happy until organized crime began causing violence in the area, with frequent shootings that forced many families, including ours, to flee their ranches. We moved to Tijuana following my mother and siblings; although there is work here, the cost of living is much higher. My husband and I both worked in a factory, but when our third daughter was born I had to resign, and my severance pay was used for the down payment on our land; however, we have not been able to build because our older children are now in secondary school and my husband lost his job and is currently working as a construction helper. For these reasons, we respectfully request your support to help us build a small home, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your consideration.
