Dear Homes of Hope team, I am originally from the state of Guerrero and have two children; I live in a common-law relationship. I came to Tijuana three years ago seeking a better life, as there was a great deal of violence in the mountain region where I lived, and my family in Tijuana offered to help me leave that situation. At first, I lived with my aunt until I found a job and was able to rent a small room and slowly acquire basic necessities for my children and me; while I worked, my aunt cared for them since they were not yet in school. When I met my current partner, he began helping me, and together we saved enough to purchase a piece of land because we dream of having a place of our own. I later became ill and could no longer continue working, which caused us to fall behind on the land payments and nearly lose it, but thank God we were able to keep it. We then bought wood to build a small room so we would no longer have to pay rent, but it is very small and not a comfortable home, especially during the rainy season when it becomes very cold. Through some neighbors we learned about you, and we hold onto the hope and faith in God that you might be able to help us. May God bless you.
