Dear Homes of Hope team, I married at the age of fifteen, and the following year my son Misael was born; life was good at first, and at eighteen I had my second son, Aaron, after which we moved to Tijuana seeking a better life. Unfortunately, a few months later their father began neglecting us and using drugs, and one night Misael could not breathe, so I rushed him to the hospital praying to God for his life; he recovered, and we returned to Sinaloa, where the situation worsened as their father stopped working entirely, leading me to separate and move in with my mother. There I met the father of my two younger children, but his family did not accept our relationship because I already had two children; my third pregnancy was difficult, my baby was born at eight months and placed in an incubator, and we were later told he has congenital hypothyroidism that will affect his growth. During my last pregnancy, my second partner also began using drugs, so I separated again; Misael was six years old and sold bread to help support the family, and although I developed preeclampsia, the delivery was normal. I then moved to Tijuana with an aunt by marriage, later joined by my mother who helped care for the children, and during that time I met my current partner, Pedro, who accepted me and my four children and built a loving relationship with them. When Allison turned one, she experienced urinary pain and constant thirst, and during the pandemic she contracted a virus that affected her kidney; without health insurance, treatment was very costly, but friends and family supported us until I found a job that provided coverage. In November 2024 she developed a very high fever and seizures, requiring emergency care, and a month later further seizures led to imaging studies that revealed fluid in her brain, requiring surgery and ongoing evaluations, while Misael also suffered a serious foot injury that required surgical fixation. Above all, we thank you for opening a door of hope for our family; we have seen God’s hand throughout every trial, and the opportunity to have our own home would be an immense blessing and a testimony of God’s faithfulness in bringing stability and a better quality of life to our family.
