LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, my name is Diana, and I am originally from Oaxaca. I arrived in Tijuana in 2017 seeking better opportunities after separating from my partner when I was three months pregnant due to abuse. I chose to move forward on my own, leaving my daughter in the care of my mother, who lovingly supported me. For six years, my mother cared for my daughter in our hometown while I worked as a domestic employee, sending them money. In 2021, with the help of some friends, I was able to purchase a piece of land; however, around the same time my mother was diagnosed with diabetes, and my siblings asked me to bring my daughter to live with me because my mother could no longer care for her. When my daughter came to Tijuana, I lost my steady job so I could take care of her. With my severance pay, I was able to build a septic system and a water cistern on the land. Some friends kindly rent me a small house next to my property, but now my income only covers the woman who cares for my daughter, the rent, and our daily food. It would be an immense blessing to have the opportunity to build a Casa de Esperanza and finally have a safe place of our own.
