LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, first of all, I thank God for my family, for our health, and for the support we have received during the difficult times we have gone through. I am originally from Mexico City, from a low-income background but with strong Christian values. At 18, I moved to Tijuana, where I have tried to live a healthy life. At 34, I began a relationship with the mother of my children. Over time, I realized that my eldest son was not biologically mine, but I never said anything because my family means everything to me. Later on, my partner began using drugs, and we went through very difficult times—the hardest of my life—especially as my son Andrew became ill with asthma. The little money we had went toward his medications and my partner’s substance abuse. Eventually, she left home and only returned when she needed money; when I refused, she began to threaten me, so I decided to return to Mexico City. There, we experienced hunger, and since I had no one to help care for my children, I had to leave them alone at times, which forced them to become responsible and mature at a young age. After some time, their mother reached out to them (without them knowing what had happened before), and we decided to return to Tijuana. Over the past three years, we have managed to save enough for a down payment, as our dream is to have our own home. A friend told us about your organization, and we are very excited about the possibility of being part of this blessing. We are currently living in a trailer because rent is very expensive. Thank you for giving us hope.
