FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Sandra

Age: 36 years old

Job: Cleaning Houses

salary weekly: $170 US

CHILDREN

Jazmin - 15 years old

Esmeralda - 6 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello my name is Sandra Carvallo, I’m a widowed mom of two wonderful daughters. Two years ago, my husband died unexpectedly in a matter of two weeks. We were living at my mother in law’s when he fell ill. She helped take care of the girls while I took care of him day and night until sadly he passed away. After his funeral I went to be with my relatives for a couple days but when I went back to my mother in law's house she was in a lot of emotional pain and rage and she didn’t receive us back in the house. She was mourning. We found ourselves in the streets with anything but what we were wearing. My family received us back again, so we moved to Rosarito permanently to start a new life. Here we bought a piece of land and I’ve been paying for it while I live at my aunt’s house. Here my older daughter sleeps on a sofa and I sleep on the floor with my youngest daughter. My aunt has been very good to us but her house is small and we long for a place of our own that we can call home. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope! God bless you.

Salary Weekly: $75 US

FATHER: Victor

Age: 37 years old

Job: Brick layer

Salary Weekly: $160 US

CHILDREN

Janet - 13 years old

Fatima - 12 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello! We are the family Robles Aguayo. We are a small family from the south of Mexico. We came to Tijuana in search of a better life. Our family here promised to help us establish but in the end they left us on our own and when we had acquired some things to start a sales business a fake friend stole everything we had. We ended up in the streets again because we didn’t have enough income to pay rent. We’ve gone through hunger and cold and living wherever people let us stay. My days and nights have been dark for not having a place to live or any stability. We’ve been in Tijuana for the past 9 years struggling and working hard trying to give a good life to our children but it’s been very hard. One of my daughters has a lot of sight issues and they make fun of her at school but a friend recently helped us to pay for her prescription glasses thank God. Me and my husband are both type 1 diabetic. We have all the symptoms of very advanced diabetes. Our feet and our bones hurt and sometimes we can’t see clearly when our sugar is high. I’ve already lost mobility in my right hand and apart from diabetes my husband also suffers from high blood pressure. It’s hard for us to get hired in a normal job because of all of our health issues. Right now I work cleaning a house 3 days a week and my husband works helping this same family doing some errands for them and fixing things in their house. He also works sometimes doing small construction jobs. Thank you so much for considering our family for a Home of Hope!!

Hello! My name is Alicia Cruz Madrigal. I’m the mom of a little 5 year old named Arleth and I’m very pregnant with my second baby. She is due in June. We’ve been living for the past 3 months in our land in a little room we made ourselves. It’s been hard because we don’t have electricity or running water but we are working very hard to adapt. We were living in my mother’s land in her old house but it used to leak and it was very deteriorated. The floor was dirt and wood and the walls were not properly sealed. We really want something better for our family but it’s hard to do it on ourselves. That’s why we come to you. I come from a very big family. My sister and my mom have also received a Home of Hope but they each have their own family and children. We also dream of having our own home and it would be such a blessing if you could help us and consider us for a Home of Hope. Thank you for helping us provide a safe home for our little girls. Christian - 15 years old

Fernando - 8 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!! My name is Elvia, I’m a single mom of two wonderful young men. I have an older daughter but she doesn’t live with me anymore. She has her own family. My grandson loves coming to visit us and stay with us for a couple of days. Our house is not very comfortable or safe but it’s what I have to offer to my children right now. We’ve been living there for the past six months. Our roof leaks and the house is cold and damp when it rains so we have a lot of respiratory issues. My health is also not the best but I haven’t been able to get the help I need. I sell clothes and some food to sustain our little family, but what we make is barely enough for the land payments and some of our expenses. My older daughter helps us sometimes when we don’t have enough but she has her own expenses. My biggest desire is to give a stable and safe home to my children. We heard about Homes of Hope through our neighbors, they received a Home of Hope and when the team came to build someone from the team talked to my youngest son Mateo and invited him to eat and offered help to our family. My son got very excited and thought we could receive a Home of Hope too. So we applied and here we are. We are so grateful for this opportunity, thank you so much for everything you do, God bless you so much!!!!

FATHER: Miguel Angel

Age: 26 years old

Job: Brick layer

Salary Weekly: $175 US

Marcus - 2 years old

Melanie - 7 years old

Miguel Angel - 9 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello! we are the family Soto Lozano, we are a family of 5. My husband and I have 3 wonderful children who we love more than anything. My dream as a mom is to give my children a comfortable place where they can live and play. We used to pay rent in a very small and ugly place but we decided we want to leave something to our children for when we're gone so we started paying this land. With our savings we gave our down payment and that day our adventure begun. Since then we started collecting wood and we started working on leveling our ground. Friends and family helped us a lot and a week and a half later we got to build a little room where we are currently living in. Our first months were a struggle because we didn't have electricity or running water and we had a dirt floor so lots of little animals would crawl inside the house. In the end we are so happy that little by little we are creating our own home with a lot of effort and sacrifice. It was hard to connect to electricity but thank God and with our parents help now we have light inside our house. My children sometimes ask me how long we will live in these conditions and it's hard to give them an answer. Sometimes they get sick because the room is cold and the walls have some holes where the air comes through at night. Our roof is covered with plastic that we got from some of our neighbors so that when it rains our roof doesn't leak. I love being in my home so I try really hard to keep my house clean and comfortable for my children. Whatever we've been able to buy it's been with a lot of effort and it would be such a dream come true that Homes of Hope would build a house for our children to have a beautiful place where they can rest and sleep peacefully. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope!!

Zulema - 2 years old

Geraldine - 8 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!!! my name is Dayana, I'm a mom of two wonderful little girls, I left my mom's house when I had my first child and I started selling stuff to pay rent on my own. Years ago I bought a piece of land from my aunt and when I was 18 years old it was completely payed off; but the place where it was would get really bad and dangerous during the rainy season, so I sold it and with that I bought another one that was closer to the girl's school. With the money I had left I was able to build a little room and stop renting. It's been the best investment I've made for my children, so they don't struggle like I did and so I can give them some stability. I don't want my children to go through the same things I went through, struggling and moving around. This way they can focus on their education and have something of their own. I currently don't have the resources to improve my home and where we are living the roof leaks and it's cold at night. It would be such a wonderful blessing if my family and I could receive a Home of Hope, thank you so much for considering us and for everything you do for this families, God bless you!!

Jonathan - 8 years old

Letter from the family: Hello we are the family Romero Ledesma!!! My name is Lucia, I'm a single mom of a wonderful 8 year old boy named Jonathan. I had a very difficult childhood growing up. My dad left us when I was 11 years old and since then me and my siblings started working to help my mom with our family expenses. I started my own family when I was 21 years old with the dad of my son but after a while we had to part our ways because of violence and I went back to live with my mother. I started focusing on God and putting my life together working and serving at church. Later on I met someone else and with him I tried again to start a family but we had to split too because of the same issues. He helped me buy the land I own right now and in january of 2023 we had to leave the house we were renting so we moved to our land in an improvised house we built with wood scraps and a tin roof with a tarp. It still leaks when it rains, and our living conditions are not the right ones but I know God is good and he's the one who has given me the strength I need to keep going and trying. Thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope. We are so grateful and expectant for you to come and help us build the house we need so much.

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Yolanda

Age: 20 years old

Job: Sales

Salary Weekly: $100 US

CHILDREN

Kimberly - 20 years old

Letter from the family: Hello! My name is Yolanda, my family and I came to Tijuana running away from violence and in search of a better life 12 years a go. Last year my husband passed away unexpectedly from a very aggressive cancer and it left me and my daughter without a husband and without a dad; and with debts and a big void in our lives. Friends and family have been good to us and have helped us, but as time has passed by we’ve found ourselves again on our own. With my husband’s departure it has been very hard to cover all of our expenses and to pay rent, that's why we got kicked out of the house we were renting and we ended up in the street. A dear friend allowed us to stay in her house for a season, until we could find another place but now they are also asking us to leave. We don’t have anywhere else to go, that’s why we have applied for a Home of Hope. My daughter sells candy at her university and I sell stuff people give us to help sustain ourselves and I also clean houses a couple times a week. We have family in the south but we don’t want to go back because of the insecurity there. My husband and I were together for 24 years, losing him was the hardest thing we’ve ever been through as a family, but we have hope for the future and we are expecting better times for us. Thank you so much for reading our application and for considering us for a Home of Hope.

Letter from the family: Hello we are the family Dominguez Zepeda, we came from the south of Mexico to Tijuana in search of a better life. We've been living in Ensenada and Rosarito with our families but it has been very uncomfortable for both of our families. We even had to live in my mother in law's living room for 6 months, we also lived in my brother in law's land for a a while. Later we got to save money for our land down payment and then we started saving to build something but we only got to build the septic tank and leveled the ground and then we ran out of money. Then thankfully we got to hear about Homes of Hope and we applied for a home. We would love to have our own stable home for our children. We're we've been living they've even robed us and when it rains the roof leaks and the house gets really cold and humid and the kids get sick. My desire as a mom is to be with my kids at home and be able to give them attention and teach them about values and faith. I know you can't help all the families but I thank you for this opportunity of having a safe roof over our heads. Thank you so much!!!
