LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, may God bless you. I came to Tijuana at the age of 20 in search of a better life; I am originally from Chiapas. For many years, I rented a home with my parents until, through great effort, we were able to buy a piece of land and build a small wooden house where I lived with my parents, siblings, my wife, and our children. However, soon after moving in, we began receiving threats because we lived in a dangerous area. One day, we were brutally attacked—my father, my siblings, a cousin, and I were beaten. It was one of the worst days of our lives. Thankfully, the police, ambulance, and firefighters arrived, but we were left seriously injured and spent time in intensive care. We had to sell the land we had worked so hard to buy in order to pay for our recovery, as we were unable to work. We returned to renting for many years. Despite everything, we were poor but happy and united—until the pandemic came and my wife passed away. I fell into a deep depression and loneliness until I met my current partner, who has been a gift from God. Through her, I came to know God and His greatness, as she comes from a Christian family. She has loved and cared for my children from the very beginning. Together, we have rebuilt our lives, and as a family we now seek God with faith and hope. We pray with all our hearts to be blessed with a Casa de Esperanza. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
