LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, my name is Blanca, I am 44 years old, and I write to you with the hope of requesting a house, as my current living situation is far from ideal. With great effort, I have only been able to build a small room. I am a single mother with two children. I used to rent a small space, but my salary was no longer enough to continue paying rent, so I acquired a plot of land with the hope of having something of my own. Unfortunately, I have not been able to build a proper house. My oldest son just turned 18 and is currently looking for work, but he hasn’t been able to find anything yet since he recently had appendix surgery and cannot lift heavy objects. My daughter is 11 years old, goes to school, and is very intelligent and dedicated—just like me. I am originally from Chiapas and moved to Tijuana in 2006 in search of a better life, as my father was very controlling and sexist. Shortly after arriving, I met my son’s father, and we got married, but sadly, he passed away not long after. Years later, I met my daughter’s father and was with him for five years until he chose to leave us, and we have not heard from him since. I have raised both of my children on my own. I thank you in advance for taking the time to read my request, and I place my hope in God that I may receive your support.
