LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, my name is Miriam, and this is the story of why I am in Tijuana, how I came to own a plot of land, and why I dream of having a home. I am from Petatlán, Guerrero. I am happy to have grown up there, but it’s not the place where I want my children to grow up. I am a single mother, responsible for four children. My daughters are already adults, and where I come from is a very violent area controlled by organized crime. That is why I decided to leave and move to Tijuana. We started out renting a house that my children and I paid for together. The father of my children was killed by organized crime. One day we were asked to leave the house we were renting, and while searching for options, we found a plot of land. We built a small wooden house there. I’ve seen several “Casas de Esperanza” around the area, and it excites me to think we might have one of our own, because in our current home, we get wet when it rains, and it's very cold as the wind comes in from all sides. I truly hope we can receive help. Sending a hug and blessings
