LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope, my husband and I have been together for 6 years. When we met, I had a one-year-old daughter and he had a four-year-old son, so we moved to Valle de Guadalupe to live with his parents, where we stayed for three years. Then we decided to return to Tijuana to try to have something of our own. I had a high-risk pregnancy, and my husband went back to Valle de Guadalupe to work and cover expenses, as I don’t receive any support from my daughter’s biological father — he completely abandoned her. My daughter was born prematurely and it’s been very expensive. While my husband was away, we managed to get a piece of land. Now he's back because the job ended, and shortly after, I became pregnant with Santiago, another high-risk pregnancy, so we moved in with my mom. Right now, there are three families living in the same house: my mom and stepdad, my sister and her daughter, and us — a family of five. It’s extremely crowded and has caused many family issues. Because of this, my husband and I have had serious problems and even considered divorce. Friends say it’s due to the lack of privacy and our own space. That’s why we deeply long for a "Casita de Esperanza" — to have our own home, live as a family, and move forward together.
