LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, I want to explain why I long to have a Casita de Esperanza. As a child, I didn’t have a home with a mother and father—I was raised by my grandparents. My childhood was not a happy one; I suffered many abuses. All I ever wanted was to be with my parents, but they didn’t want me, so I ran away and went to live with another family. I was 12 years old and working to try to buy a house, but in that home they tried to abuse me. At 14, I went back to look for my parents, but they still didn’t want me, so I started working as a mechanic. Later, my parents arranged for me to live with a man 26 years older than me. I had my children and kept working because I dreamed of having a home. At 22, I moved out to live alone with my kids—I rented. When the oldest four grew up, we decided to try our luck in Tijuana. We worked day and night to buy our land. We were happy, but then I had an accident and couldn’t work anymore. My son now takes care of us, and I sell snacks. On top of that, my husband fell and broke his hand, and he also hasn’t been able to find work. We still have five children under our care, and we haven’t been able to build a proper home. I dream of having one so we don’t have to endure the cold anymore. I pray to God with all my heart for this blessing. I believe God placed you in my path, and I thank you with all my heart.
