LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, currently, my husband, my baby, and I are living in my mother’s home. We are going through a very difficult time, and without my mother’s support, I don’t know where we would be. When I became pregnant, neither my parents nor my husband’s parents supported us; it became a very serious situation and we were kicked out of the house with nothing—not even clothes. We stayed briefly with some friends, but there were too many people, so we left and walked around Rosarito, collecting cardboard and building a small cardboard shelter in a park. God placed us in my mother’s heart—she looked for us and spoke with us, but at first we didn’t want to return because we didn’t want to be a burden. We later lived in a rented room without window glass; it was very cold, we had no refrigerator, food spoiled easily, we lived day to day, and often ate very little. When I was further along in my pregnancy, my blood pressure rose, I fainted, and I was taken to the hospital unconscious. Because it was dangerous for the baby, labor was induced. My baby was born three days later, premature and very small, with breathing and feeding difficulties, so he was placed in neonatal care. It was heartbreaking to leave him in the hospital—I wanted him in my arms—but to this day I thank God for sparing his life. We are seeking a home so we can give our son a better life. Even though my husband is very hardworking, our income is not enough; it goes toward the land payments, formula, diapers, and basic groceries, though we are much better than before. My mother shares her stove and refrigerator with us. I have faith that God will open the door for you to support us. Thank you for giving me hope.
