LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, I am originally from Veracruz & arrived in Tijuana in 2016; I was coming out of a difficult relationship and had my two-year-old son with me. I went to live at my father’s house while I looked for work, but it was difficult because I was underage. Later, I was lent a house, but with the expenses of diapers and milk, I could not afford to furnish it. Things were going well until my son became ill with salmonella. In 2018, my friend and I began a relationship, and although our family story has not been easy, it has been marked by resilience. We tried to have a baby, but due to ovarian cysts I was unable to, until in 2020 we were blessed with our daughter after a high-risk pregnancy. Sadly, shortly after, we went through a deep crisis caused by a domestic accident that led to legal issues and a family separation, which resulted in depression and addiction problems that affected my health. Today, I write this letter from a completely different place thanks to a rehabilitation process and the unconditional support of my family. I have been sober for four years, and during this time my husband and I have remained united, working hard to provide a safe and healthy environment for our children. Thank God, we both now have stable jobs. Recently, we discovered that our eldest son has hearing problems and we are waiting for surgery. I also have fibroids but have not been able to undergo surgery due to a lack of donors, and I cannot miss work because our income is just enough to get by. Additionally, the house we were renting was sold, and we were asked to leave on short notice, so we had to build a small structure on our land, but it is not enough for the five of us to live comfortably. Our goal is to build a proper room for our children so they can have their own space. That is why we are reaching out to you, to ask if it would be possible for you to support us through your beautiful housing project.
