LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, I am here respectfully requesting your support to obtain a dignified home for my family and me. We are currently living in unsafe and inadequate conditions and are at risk of being evicted. We are originally from the coast of Oaxaca, but due to financial hardship we came here in search of a better future. On our way, we first went to Michoacán, but the presence of organized crime made it very difficult to stay. When we heard about the possibility of seeking asylum, we decided to come to Tijuana, but shortly after arriving, the asylum process was closed. My husband found work through an uncle, but the pay is very low, and I stayed home caring for our baby, who still needed milk and diapers, while also being pregnant with our second child. We were living with my aunt, but suddenly she asked us to leave. We then stayed with a friend, feeling uncertain and overwhelmed, not knowing what to do, but asking God for strength to keep going. My husband does not have formal education, so he can only find work in construction, and I began selling homemade desserts to help support us. With great faith in God, we were able to acquire a piece of land and have been making monthly payments, although it has been very difficult. We trust that God has plans for us even when we cannot see them, and we believe in His greatness. I kindly ask you to consider our case so that my children may have a place they can call “our home.” Thank you for taking the time to read our letter, and may God bless you.
