LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:
Dear Homes of Hope team, We are originally from Morelia, Michoacán, where we rented a home and ran a small food business, but my partner became ill and that consumed all of our savings. In that situation, an aunt in Tijuana told us she would help us if we moved here, but when we arrived, things were very different—we were treated like servants, doing household chores and caring for her grandmother. My husband eventually found a job as a driver at AutoZone, and we began the process of purchasing a piece of land so we could live in peace. We left my aunt’s home and started renting, but we were soon asked to leave. A neighbor offered us space in his garage to build a small room, but in the end, he took advantage of us and kept our belongings. Later, family members lent us a trailer, which we placed on our land, but it is not large enough for all of us. In the midst of all this, God showed us grace through a neighbor who allowed us to use a room and her bathroom, and even the man who had taken our things has returned some items, including a water tank and a container. During this time, one of our children suffered a head injury from a fall, and the medical care was very expensive, using up the little savings we had. Despite everything, we believe God is great and has placed you in our path so we might be considered for a Casa de Esperanza. We are deeply grateful.
