Communicating with Purpose

Introduction

“Communicating with Purpose” or “Storytelling 101” tells the story of who, what, and why.

In terms of learning how to share the Word, learning how to share YOUR story is key to spreading your faith with others and mobilizing your generation into missions, sharing boldly your testimony on whatever platform you choose.

In this introduction to effective storytelling, the goal is to guide you through exercises to capture your lived experience at YWAM. Each exercise is designed to reflect on your journey while in the experience.

First person storytelling resonates with audiences and is an essential skill to gain. You can share your experience through a website, social media or in-person. When you understand the power of storytelling, how to plan content creation, and effective methods to promote your story, you will be better equipped to share your passion for helping the world using these exercises.

Beyond learning to share your story effectively, the added benefits of communication skills flow easily into mission fundraising, and demonstrates your faith statement to strangers, your friends, and potentially expanding your influence and your audience.

You may choose to use writing, photography, video, music, or any other form of expression to spread the Word.

As you work through these exercises, the professional communications experts at Valve+Meter will help you to optimize your storytelling for broader audiences and support the overall work at YWAM.
