MOTHER: Jacqueline

Age: 29 years old

Profession: Stay at Home Mon

Dylan - Age: 7 years old

Ian - Age: 2years old

Kailani - Age: 1 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello, my name is Jaqueline and my husband’s name is José Alberto. We have 3 children and have been married for a year now. I was a single mom to my oldest son, Mateo, and then I met my husband. We became pregnant right away with our son, Josue. When this happened, my mother in law offered for us to build above her house so that we didn’t have to keep paying rent elsewhere. This turned out to be a big mistake and caused many relational problems in our extended family. From there, we decided the best decision would be to save up and put a downpayment on a piece of land so that we could eventually start building there. My second son was born and between all the bills we had, we needed to move back in with family but it was miserable. Although I was taking necessary precautions, almost immediately after having my son, I became pregnant for a third time. I felt devastated knowing I could barely take care of the two I already had. With our finances, it has been impossible to move ahead in life. Where we are staying now, it’s freezing cold, we get rained on, and all 3 of my kids are constantly sick. I feel desperate and need your help. We recently found out that my middle son has autism and we know this will put a further financial strain on our family. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my letter and I sincerely hope to be able to receive your help. Thank you!

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Margarita

Age: 33 years old

Profession: street vendor

Salary Weekly: $110US

CHILDREN

Name: Jessica - Age: 16 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello, my name is Margarita and I’m asking for your help because financially I’m unable to give my daughter a better place to live. Right now, all the prices of homes and rent are going up in our area, as well as the cost of groceries, transportation and many other things. What I earn is not enough to pay for our land payment, my daughter’s school fees, and also to build anything or rent anywhere. We were living with my parents and siblings but it was too small there and I decided it would be wise to invest and put a down payment on a piece of land. We built a really small room on our property but in bad weather, it falls over. I just want to give my daughter a better life. Thank you!

Name: Kimberly - Age: 10 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello, my name is Mario. My wife’s name is Norma and our daughter’s name is Paola. I’m writing this letter with much hope and faith that you’ll be able to help our family out with a home. When we moved here from the south, we came looking for better work and a better life. I currently work selling food and earn less than $100 dollars a week. My wife and I were able to save and put a downpayment on a piece of land. We tried building a small structure there to live in but in the rain and wind- the structure fell and we knew it wasn’t safe to stay there anymore. Luckily a friend loaned us a trailer to live in but we were recently informed that they need to sell the trailer and we will be without a place to live again. We are worried about our situation but felt a lot of hope when we learned about your ministry and how you help others. I reach out to you asking that you consider our family for a home, we would be so appreciative. May God bless you today and always.

My husband and I decided to start saving money for a piece of land. We were able to save enough for a down payment and will be able to pay the land off in 10 years. We are already living on our land in a small structure my husband built for us. It’s only big enough for us to sleep in but due to cold weather- I had to start cooking inside of it too. With so much rain, our home is full of mold and not safe. We can’t afford to keep fixing it. I’m also 8 months pregnant and unsure how we will all fit inside our current home. My husband is the only one working and tries his very best. We need help and ask you to consider building a home for us; for our children. Blessings.

We are from a very small town in Oaxaca where there are few jobs and they pay so little. My parents raised me to be a hard worker and to help take care of my family. Many of my siblings have disabilities so I learned to work at a young age and support my family. I was able to qualify for a special program for marginalized people groups and through that program- I went to university. My husband comes from a difficult background too but was able to finish high school. I work night shifts and my husband works day shifts- that way someone is always with our daughter. My father recently passed away and now I feel the burden to help my mom who is sick as well as my siblings. We really need a home and would be so happy if you are able to help us. Thank you!

Good afternoon to you. We are the Parra Encarnacion family. We are originally from Acapulco but now live in Tijuana. We are a very low income family. Where we were living before- they burned down our home and took our land away. We fled for our safety and now are starting over. Our only dream is to be together as a family and to have a safe home to live in. We have faced many hard things over the last couple of years- we lost my mom and my dad also is sick. A while back, we noticed a group of young people building a home for our neighbor. We approached the group and asked how our family could possibly receive this type of help as well. We were given the phone number to Homes of Hope and now we find ourselves asking God for His help. He knows our needs. Where we currently live, the home is made of wood and the roof is caving in. Our daughter is always sick because our living conditions are so poor. We pray you are able to help us, may God bless all of you.

At that point I started looking for a piece of land to buy where my children, granddaughter, and I could live peacefully together. In the beginning I was the only one making money but thankfully my daughter has now found work too. Together we started building a small structure we could live in little by little. It’s hard to make ends meet with so many needs, especially with children in school and those costs. Hello, we are the Díaz Martínez family. We have been living on our property for about two years now and it has been a battle since the beginning. Before acquiring this plot, we tried two times before but had our money taken from us by dishonest people. My husband tried to build a small place for us to live on our property but without much knowledge of construction. Because of that, our home is in bad shape and our finances are too low to be able to do much about it. Around the same time, we noticed what looked like a bite on our baby and he began to get very sick. We spent all our money taking him to every doctor and everyone gave us a different diagnosis. My husband was unable to work during that time and our house with so much rain has become worse and worse. My children are always sick and I feel desperate. Right now we are also housing extra people seeking asylum. We need and would appreciate your help so much. Thank you!

Hello, I write this letter to you explaining a bit of our family history. When my wife and I found out that we would be having a baby- everything changed for me. I quickly realized it was my job to always make sure my wife and baby had everything that they needed. I worked two jobs as I waited for our baby to arrive and thankfully, my mother in law let us live with her. We knew that when the baby arrived, we would need to figure out a new plan because we wouldn’t fit in our small room anymore. From there, a man I was helping build a home for let me stay in his unfinished house to look after it. I knew it wasn’t safe but we had no options. One day when we went out, someone broke in and stole everything. I was so devastated knowing that my family was not safe there. Finally, we have been able to secure a piece of land of our own and my hope is that we soon will have a home there, too. Thank you and blessings.

Letter from the family:

My familia and I have lived through many difficult things together. We thought leaving our city and starting over here would be a good choice but it has really just been so hard. We often feel rejected by others, what brings us comfort is knowing that God loves us. We decided to look for a piece of land because the room someone was loaning us- they asked for it back. We weren’t able to find something to rent that we could afford so we decided to invest in something of our own. We only had enough money to buy block and that is all our house is made of- no rebar or concrete inside the blocks. It’s hard for us to move forward because my husband makes so little money. It’s only enough to pay for our land each money and a few other things. I saw your team build a house for my neighbor- she pushed me to ask about a home for my family too. It gave me hope to think that we also could receive a beautiful home. I hope you see us and our need. God bless you.
