Hello, my name is Martha and I hope my letter finds you doing well. I’m reaching out to you and asking for your help in providing a home for my family. We are a very low income family. With the salary my husband makes, it’s barely enough to survive; there is nothing leftover for additional needs we have. My husband and I have 3 daughters; two are school age and 1 is still in diapers and using formula. My husband makes less than $120 dollars a week working at a junkyard. We have to be really creative each month to figure out how we can cover all of our bills. I have faith in God but also in all of you to understand our situation and help if you are able. Thank you for your consideration.

Hello, my name is Luis Alberto and I am husband to Lucia, and a father to Dylan. My desire is to be a caring and responsible provider for my home. 2 years ago our son Dylan was born with Downs Syndrome. He receives free healthcare in Mexico City but my wife has to take him there every 5 months and it has put a further stress on our limited finances. He also has therapy and appointments here in Tijuana. We are asking for help in receiving a home as we understand Dylan will need us for the rest of his life. As he continues to grow, we would like for him to have his own room and privacy, that will better equip him to be more independent. We have been through a lot of emotional and financial stress in the last couple of years and we are so thankful for the help that we have received. Thank you for your time, we hope to hear from you soon!

Hello, we are a large family with a desperate need of housing. Where we are currently living has been deemed a safety zone in danger of landslides. The house is falling apart little by little. We’ve done everything we can to preserve the current home but it’s only a matter of time. We try not to talk about what’s happening too much because we don’t want to worry our children but we need a plan of action. We’ve been through a lot and I don’t want to put them through any more distress. I just want a safe home for my children, they really deserve it. If I could do it on my own, I would. Thank you for your time, blessings.

Letter from the family:

Hello, my name is Francisco. I was originally born in Sonora, Mexico but when I was really little my parents took me to live illegally in the United States. I made a lot of poor decisions while there and eventually I was deported when I was 29 years old for life. After I was deported, I ended up staying in Tijuana. I feel like God has given me a second chance at life here. I met my wife and her son here, he was 1 at the time. We also have 3 children together, one of which has had severe health problems. When our third child was in utero, we learned he had a life altering kidney disease. At 8 months, he had his first surgery that only had a 50% success rate. His health has been a scary and expensive battle. I feel like my wife and I are constantly battling to raise our 4 boys right, and give them everything they need and deserve. For a long time, I would work all day and my wife would work all night. Currently, she stays home to look after our house and children’s needs. Thankfully, we have had some help along the way through supportive family members. Receiving a home would greatly improve our quality of life. Thank you!

Letter from the family:

Hello, my name is Rocio and I’m 35 years old. My family is originally from Sonora but we’ve been in Tijuana a long time now. About 6 years ago we began paying for a piece of land with the hope of one day building a home there. But because of many life circumstances and a lack of economic resources, we have not been able to advance with that dream. I’d like to tell you a little about my family. I’m a single mom to two beautiful children, Axel (10) and Yasmín (12). My kids are my everything! I separated from my kid’s father because he is a very violent person. It was better for us to start all over again but in peace, then to live through the same cycle of abuse I lived through as a child. My mom has helped me and we are pushing forward together, putting the kids first. In our home lives my two children, my mom, myself, and also my niece and nephew. My mom is handicapped and uses a walker and wheelchair to get around. The mother of my niece and nephew was also living with us but over two years ago she left and we have never heard from her since. We suspect she was killed by her ex-husband. Now I consider her two children my own and help care for them because I know she would do that for me. I ask for your help because I would love to have a safe home for my family. Thank you for reading our letter.

I constantly am stricken with anxiety because no matter what we do, it seems we’re unable to move forward. We do have a piece of land we are paying towards but we’ve been unable to make any advances on building a home there for ourselves. It feels frustrating to want to provide a better life for your children but to be unable to do so. We long for a safe home that no one can kick us out of. The home where we rent now is soon being rented to someone else. We hate the insecurity of not knowing what to do next. Thank you for reading our letter and allowing me to express myself.

We are originally from the state of Jalisco but needed to move because there’s not much work there and the jobs that are available, don’t pay well. Honestly even after moving to Rosarito, we are still struggling because the prices are so high here and rent is unaffordable for people like us. Currently my son is living elsewhere because we can’t afford to support his studies. I pray we can all be reunited again soon. Thank you and God bless.

Letter from the family:

Hello, my name is Alejandro and I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my family and myself. I want to tell you a little about myself, I’m from a very poor area in the state of Oaxaca. At 12 years old, I lost my dad in an accident and 4 months later my mom died in child birth. At that point, my 6 brothers and sisters and I were all separated and went to live with different family members. Life felt lonely after that and I decided I needed to make a way for myself to have a chance at becoming anything one day. I started working and finishing junior high school. I worked towards getting my GED also but haven’t finished. I ended up meeting my now wife, Maribel, on a trip back home to see family. We made plans to wait for each other while I moved up north to look for a better paying job and somewhere for us to live. I did everything I could to prepare the way for us and we decided to finally get married. Shortly after, we learned my wife was pregnant and it was the happiest moment of my life- to love someone you haven’t yet known. My son has taught me love and my greatest desire is to protect him from everything that I can. Kids are a gift and blessing from God! I just want to give my son and wife a comfortable place to live. I will keep working hard and hope that all the hard work will eventually pay off. I don’t want my son to live through all the hard times that I have lived through. God bless you, thank you for all the beautiful work you do for others!

Hello, we are the Palacios Gaspar family. Our current situation isn’t very good and we have been struggling so much since we lost our jobs in the pandemic. I kept looking for work but my wife couldn’t because she was very sick from diabetes. Around that time, God blessed us with a second daughter. Everything was very complicated during her pregnancy because she was considered high risk. Following my wife’s complex cesarean, she needed a follow up surgery. She is much better now but we have so much debt because of those procedures. We could really use your help. I want a place for my wife and girls to live peacefully. With a home, we wouldn’t have to pay rent anymore and we could move forward with our lives. We are currently living in a home where the owners have been so graceful with us while we pass through our most difficult days. Thank you for your consideration.

Letter from the family:

Sometimes we get busy and forget about God. I think that’s what I did. I forgot to thank Him for my life and a new day, for a meal on my plate. I was very selfish and cared mostly for material items. I started working young and never finished my studies. I also married young and began having children. My husband began using drugs and fell ill. All of the sudden he wasn’t working and all the responsibilities fell on me. I tried using a visa to be able to work in the US but they quickly took it away from me. I was desperate one day and cried out to God to please rescue me and forgive me. I started cleaning homes for work to make ends meet. Around that time, a friend told me about a place that builds homes for needy families. I couldn’t believe it and knew I had to reach out to them for help. It was God’s grace that I found your beautiful mission. Thankfully, my husband is now sober and we are attempting to start fresh. A safe home for our family would be a dream come true. God bless you and all the beautiful work that you do!

Letter from the family:

Hello, my name is Selina, my husband’s name is Johan, and we have two little boys together; Jose y William. With all my heart, I ask you to consider building a home for my family and I. We have worked so hard and were finally able to put a down payment on a piece of land. We make our payment every month and are proud of that accomplishment. I’m a stay at home mom as I don’t have help with my children and my husband has a commission based job selling beauty products to salons. We are currently living in an apartment that my husband’s aunt is loaning to us but we just received notice that she needs to start renting it. I don’t know where we will live after this and I worry about it every day. We aren’t able to live on our land yet because we haven’t had the money to build anything there. Northern Mexico continues to become more and more expensive and we can’t keep up with the increase in prices. I want to tell you just a little bit about my life. God sent my husband to me 3 years ago, to rescue me. He too was very alone living in Tijuana but originally from Colombia. My situation was terrible and I had to leave. My older son was a product of sexual abuse from my dad. My husband and I started over again and have worked hard for what we have. We just need help reaching more of our goals and want to do this for our children. May God bless you in all that you do. Thank you.

Alvaro - Age: 15 years old (Esbeidy's brother)

Letter from the family:

First and foremost, I want to thank and congratulate you for all the beautiful work you do for others. I, like most moms, long to give my child a safe place to live. A place where the landlord cannot come whenever they want and ask us to leave. Right now, I live with my mom, younger brother, and my 3 year old daughter. We are currently living in a house that we rent and every month it takes everything that we have to come up with the payment. My mom and I are the only ones working to provide for my little brother and my daughter. Neither my mom or myself have help from our children’s fathers. We simply do not make enough money to be able to build a home on our own. If we received a home, we would no longer have to worry about paying rent anymore or building a home and those costs- we could just focus on paying our land payment. You can’t imagine what it would do for us to receive this home. Thank you for your time, we hope to hear back from you.

Hello, my name is Araceli and my husband’s name is Leopoldo. We have three children together and they are our reason to push forward in life. I believe we are a hard working family who makes our decisions thinking of our children first. We are working hard to make our land payment each month but also have the cost of rent. Besides that we have all our other payments like utilities and food. What we make is not enough to sustain our needs. We had to quickly leave our home in Puebla because of a bad situation and we have struggled ever since we arrived in Tijuana. A friend told us about a beautiful organization that builds homes for families in need. It filled our hearts with so much hope! I grew up in an abusive home and promised to never let my children experience what I did. If you built a home for us, I would spend my lifetime thanking you but it still wouldn’t be enough. We know there are so many families in need and we promise that we wouldn’t ask for help if we didn’t really need it! Thank you.

Our plan has always been to live on our land but we haven’t had the resources to begin building there. We only have one income from my husband as I stay home and look after our kids. We think our kids would be full of pride living in a home of their own. A new house would signify a new beginning for us. Since we started walking with Christ, our lives have been radically changed.
