Where we come from there’s not enough work opportunities and it’s a very violent place. Here we found new motivation to keep fighting and to build a future for our children. My family and I are doing the best we can to go ahead every day and we are grateful for this new city that gave us a new start. Some time ago my husband got on a work accident and he hurt his back so now he can't get a regular work. Right now we live in a very small house. We sell donuts on the weekend and durin the week I work in a factory. Nothing would make us more happy than to be able to receive a Home of Hope! Thank you for considering us for a Home of Hope!!

Letter from the family:

Hello my name is Francisca Martinez Perez and I am writing to you to ask for your support because the house we currently live in has second hand walls that are old and have termites. It was the best we could do with what we had. Sometimes we had to save on food so we could buy stuff for the house. We are currently living in our own land and we are working very hard to keep making the monthly payments. It’s been two years since we’ve had our land and nine months since we've lived here. Our house is not in the best conditions and it’s in the countryside so there are a lot of animals in the surroundings and I’m scared that someday they’ll come inside the house and bite one of my children. I want something better for them, I want them to be safe and feel safe. I want them to rest better, our house is very cold and we don’t own much. We would be the most happy family if you would give us the opportunity to receive a home. Thank you so much for eveything you do for families like ours, God bless you!

Letter From the family: Hello!! My name is Marisol Mejia Gomez. I greet you with all of my heart. My desire is that I can receive this big miracle of having a new home. My husband has worked very hard to sustain us despite all of his sickness. He can’t walk and he has a bad sight yet he doesn’t give up on life. My children don’t get discouraged despite the conditions we live in. We go through cold and sometimes hunger. Our living conditions are not good for our children. We live all together without privacy or personal space. It’s sad for us as parents because we would love to give the best to our children. We want them to have a warm and safe home for when we go to work. We sell snacks outside schools, that’s our job. But it’s still not enough to provide for all of our needs. Our salary is barely enough to eat, make the monthly land payments and send our children to school. If we get to receive the gift of a house I would be the happiest mom because my children would be safe sleeping in a warm house. I keep asking God for this miracle. Thank you so much for reading my letter and considering my petition. God bless you!!

It’s been two years now since I’ve been living with my mother because I can’t afford paying rent and the land and building a house on my own. Being a single dad makes everything even harder. That’s why I come to you to ask for a home for me and my daughter. Thank you so much for considering us to receive this wonderful help!!!

Alexa - 8 years old

Letter from the family:

I am writing to request support for building our house, as we do not have the financial resources to do so ourselves. With great sacrifice and effort, we have been paying for our land, but only my husband works while I take care of our home and children. We have an 8-year-old daughter whom I take to school, and a 2-year-old baby, which entails significant expenses. Despite this, we strive to make ends meet.

We deeply wish to have a beautiful and secure place where our children can feel comfortable and safe, without enduring the cold nights that are common in our current situation. Our house currently leaks when it rains, and we haven’t been able to save enough money to build a proper home. We are constantly forced to choose between buying food, paying for the land, or saving for construction.

Your assistance would make a tremendous difference in our lives, providing my children with a warm, dry, and safe environment.

Thank you very much for considering our request.

FATHER: Alejandro

Age: 45 years old

Job: vendor

Salary Weekly: $200US

CHILDREN

Adan de Jesus - 12 years old

Letter from the family:

My name is America, and I am writing to seek your assistance. I live with my husband Alejandro and our grandson Adán de Jesús, who is in the sixth grade. Adán has been with us for two years and is the reason I keep fighting every day.

We are requesting your help to obtain a house because my illness has prevented us from providing a proper home for our grandson. As he grows, he needs his own space, which we cannot afford due to our financial situation. Our current home is in poor condition, especially during the rainy season when everything gets wet despite our efforts to protect it with plastic. The sun and wind only make things worse, and we often have to use buckets to catch leaks. A beautiful tree helps prevent our old wooden house from collapsing, but water still seeps in everywhere.

During the Santa Ana winds, our house is at great risk, making it very unsafe for us. I suffer from chronic bronchial asthma, which severely affects my lungs, and I often cannot work. This, combined with the costs of medicine and the inability to repair our home, has made our financial situation dire.

My husband works, but his income is not enough to cover our needs. Therefore, we humbly request your help in providing us with a better home so we can live more comfortably and safely. Your assistance would mean the world to us, especially for Adán's well-being.

Thank you very much for considering our request.

Sincerely, America

Venecia - 10 years old

Bastian - 6 years old

Baby - (will be born in July or August)

Letter from the family:

Hello!! My name is Getzemai, I’m a mom of two wonderful children and waiting for my third. My family and I are from Acapulco, we came to Tijuana 8 years ago in search of a better life. We had to emigrate from the south of Mexico because of the insecurity, and the lack of opportunities. We first arrived to live with my brother but then we went to rent on our own. Seven years passed by renting from one place to the other until we decided to use our savings to build a land. We wanted to build something but we only had enough to buy a little trailer, even the land and make half a fence. It was urgent for us to start living in the land because we couldn’t continue paying rent anymore. So one week after we gave our down payment without running water, electricity or our fence finished, we went to live on our land. At the beginning it was very scary because we didn’t know anyone in the area and my husband works at night but at least now we had something of our own and we felt relieved for a time. In December and January though the rainy season started and our trailer leaked very badly. We got some tarps to put on the roof but they would break with the wind and rain again would come inside the house. My husband is a waiter but we also sell things in the flea market two days a week, but with the rains we could not go to sell things so that affected our budget too. In the middle of all of that a friend spoke to us about Homes of Hope and we applied to receive a home. We applied and went to the orientation. There someone talked about how sometimes we are desperate or depressed and we ask God for a sign and this could be the sign we were asking for. I left encouraged and with a lot of faith for the future. I’m worried that when my baby is born in July or August we still won’t have a place for him but also I know that it could be worse and we can adapt. Still we trust in God and we know he can help us and he listens to us and he can work through you. Thank you so much for everything and for considering us for a Home of Hope!!

Anaidiriv - 15 years old

Cristofer - 2 years old

Letter from the family:

First of all, receive a warm greeting. My name is Elisa, and I am the mother of three children. My eldest, 22, no longer lives with us. My 14-year-old daughter is still in school, and we have a baby who is one year and four months old. I live with my partner Alfredo, the father of my children, who works to support our family, while I take care of the household.

We have had our land for over six years, a donation from the government, but unfortunately, we have been unable to build on it due to various reasons. Let me share a bit of our story and some of those reasons. When I met my partner, we were renting a small apartment and working at a restaurant—he as a taco chef and I at the cash register. He was invited to work in another city called Ensenada, but things did not go as we had hoped. We faced many problems there and decided to return to Rosarito, moving in with my mother-in-law due to our poor financial situation.

After some months, my partner managed to contact a neighbor of his mother, and we found a cheap place to rent. Unfortunately, the owner passed away, and we were left without a home once again. I was pregnant at the time, and it was a high-risk pregnancy. Sadly, I fell very ill and lost the baby. A couple of years later, I became pregnant again, and this pregnancy was also delicate. I had to attend private consultations because I was unemployed, and my partner did not have social security. The consultations were very expensive for us, but for the safety and stability of my baby, we did everything we could to pay for them.

It has been very difficult for us, but when we learned about Casa de Esperanza, we felt hopeful that we might receive some help. This is why we are reaching out to you for assistance.

Thank you very much for considering our request.

Sincerely, Elisa

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Arhi

Age: 26 years old

Job: casino waitress

Salary Weekly: $135US

CHILDREN

Samantha - 9 years old

Letter from the family:

First of all, I am deeply grateful for the opportunities life has given me and the chance to express my dreams and aspirations. Since I was a child, I have always dreamed of having a stable life. I consider myself someone who likes to see others doing well and I always try to help whenever I can. I find joy in the successes of others.

Currently, I work as a waitress, although the rotating shifts make it challenging to balance work and caring for my daughter. I became a mother at 16, which made me mature quickly and develop a strong desire to secure a stable future for my child. Growing up, my parents constantly moved between low-income rentals and borrowed homes, and we were often asked to leave. Witnessing this instability inspired me to strive for a better future for my daughter.

Now that I am able to work hard, I am determined to offer my daughter the best and work diligently towards this goal. I dream with all my heart of providing a stable home where my daughter can run and play in her own space. Despite the adversities, I am committed to achieving this dream because I do not want my daughter to experience the worries and instability that marked my own childhood.

Thank you for considering my request.

Carlos - 2 years old

Natalia - 4 years old

Letter from the family:

We are a very close-knit family, and despite facing many difficult situations, we remain united thanks to the example set by our parents. I work in construction as a mason's assistant, but the income is barely enough to cover food and the land payments. Thankfully, my parents support us, and we live with them in a small wooden room where space is tight, but we keep going.

Once, we tried to build a small, simple room of our own, but due to bad weather and the risk it posed to our children, we had to stop. We lacked the resources to complete the house in phases. Exactly a year ago, I had a motorcycle accident while delivering products. I had to pay for the damages to the other vehicle due to a lack of insurance, even though it wasn't my fault, and I lost my job. That was a very tough time for us. Thanks to God's help, my wife's support, and my family's assistance, I recovered, though it was a difficult process.

My wife is a homemaker and occasionally works to help with expenses. Our daughter Natalia will start school this August, which brings us joy. However, once children start school, it becomes even harder to build a house. This is why we are requesting your assistance in providing us with a home.

Thank you very much for considering us.

Age: 27 years old

Job: restaurant assistant

Salary Weekly: $110US

CHILDREN

Roberto - 2 years old

Keila - 7 years old

Letter from the family:

We are the Mejia Nava family. We decided to buy a plot of land because renting was too expensive in our area. After much searching, we found a more affordable place and saved enough for the down payment. We have been paying monthly installments since then. The land was uneven, so we saved for a few months to hire a machine to level part of it and dig a hole for a septic tank, as there is no sewer system. We are currently saving to finish the septic tank and continue making improvements as we can afford them.

Your assistance would be a tremendous help for our family. We are currently paying rent in our area, but we've been asked to vacate and have only a month to find a new place to live. We have a nearly three-year-old son, Roberto, who has had febrile seizures, resulting in unexpected medical expenses. Thankfully, his condition is improving with God's help. My husband works, earning around two thousand pesos, but his income is not stable as he is often sent home when the weather is bad.

We sincerely hope to qualify for your assistance in building a home. It would be an honor, and we assure you we would make good use of it.

Thank you very much.

Letter from the family:

Through this letter, we send a warm greeting and humbly request your assistance in building a home. We understand that many families would like to benefit from your help, as it greatly improves their living conditions. For our family, it would be an honor to receive your support, as we have been unable to build the home we desire due to financial constraints. Our current resources only allow us to survive and make payments on our land. We have only been able to construct a small room to live in. Paying rent and the land was challenging, but fortunately, we learned about your organization. We would love to be one of the many families you have helped.

Our family consists of six members: four children, my husband, and myself. My husband is the sole breadwinner, making it very difficult to save money for building a house. His income only covers the payments for our land and daily household expenses. I am a stay-at-home mom because our children are young, attend school, and we have a baby at home. We have no family support to help with the children so that I could work.

We are doing our best to meet the requirements you have set, and we hope to qualify for your assistance in building a home. It would be a great honor for us, and we assure you that we would make good use of the house if we are fortunate enough to receive your help.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello!! My name is Diana. I come to you because in my own strength I haven’t been able to give a home to my children. My husband passed away suddenly 1 and a half years ago and life has been very hard since then. We didn’t have a place to live in so we went to live on our land in a little shack we built on our own, but the weather destroyed it and we had to go to live with my friend. We can’t afford to rent on our own so we’ve been living with her since then. We don’t own anything except our beds and we can’t use them because the space we’re in is very small. I pay my friend a cheap rent but we have to sleep on the couch. That's why we come to you to ask for help. It’s been hard to be able to solventate all of our expenses as a single mom. We’ve lost a lot in the past few years and the conditions we live in are very bad. It’s our dream to have a home of our own but we can’t do it on our own. Letter from the family:

Hello!! We are the family Sosa Samoza. Our family is currently living in a small trailer in our piece of land. Our church lent us this trailer. The roof on it leaks and we’ve put a tarp on it but the water still comes through. We’ve been living there for the past 2 years to avoid paying rent and the land. We had to build a little room next to the trailer, since it’s five of us in the family and we could not fit in the small trailer. Thank God our neighbors gave us some pieces of wood and that’s how we got to build the room. It’s not very well built so the wind and rain come in when the weather is bad but it’s what we have for now. My wife and I stay there and the children sleep in the trailer. They sleep on a mattress all together so it's not comfortable at all since they are getting bigger and it’s two boys in a girl. One of them is already a teenager. Our children long to have their own room and their own bed and we long for a house worth living in, without worrying about the rain or the weather, or the leaks. We’ve been praying for this house for a while and we would be so happy to receive a Home of Hope! Thank you so much for your help and for considering us for a Home of Hope!

Letter from the family:

Hello! We are a family from Guerrero Mexico. We came to Tijuana in search of better opportunities and work. When we first got here it was hard to find a stable job, so we worked at many things that gave us money to go through the month. Because our income wasn’t constant it was hard for us to pay rents so we would stay wherever people would allow us to or where the rent was very low but then they would kick us out. One day someone recommended we acquire land and start making land payments instead of wasting the money in rents and moving around. So with a lot of sacrifice and asking for borrowed money we did our downpayment and started doing the monthly payments. We gathered some wood and we built a little shack in our land. Finally we had something that belonged to us! But then the rainy season came and our house wasn’t strong enough. The house started to fall apart and we had to go with friends to find a safe place. When we went back the next day all of our stuff was wet and the little house was destroyed. We had to start all over again. It was very hard and I didn’t have the courage to do so, but we did. Then someone told us about Homes of Hope and we applied. It’s been a long journey and we’ve had a lot of uncertainty throughout the years but we are so excited, finally the Lord has heard our request and has answered our prayers!! Thank you so much for coming to build a Home of Hope for us!
