LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, we are a family of six with a heartfelt desire to have a home of our own. Due to our limited financial resources, we have not been able to achieve this goal so far. We are currently making payments on a plot of land, but between that expense and the costs of raising and educating our children, it has become very difficult for us to move forward. Our two oldest children are about to start secondary school, and our youngest is beginning preschool. As parents, our greatest hope is for our children to have a space they can call their own—a place where they can grow up with stability and security. For many years, we had to stay with relatives, but we finally decided to start from scratch and build something through our own efforts. That is why we purchased this land, hoping that one day we can build our own home. We deeply appreciate your attention and any support you may be able to offer.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope Team, I come to you with my heart in my hands to humbly ask for your support. My name is Norma Cristina Rodríguez, and together with my husband, we have fought for many years to provide for our family. We are the parents of four children, who are our greatest motivation and joy, as well as our deepest responsibility. We live in a very difficult situation of poverty. Often, we don’t have enough for basic needs—food, transportation, clothing, or rent. There are days when we have to choose between eating or having a roof over our heads. We have lived in borrowed homes, rented places, and in precarious conditions. I do not have technical or professional education, which limits my opportunities. However, I never stop fighting. With faith and effort, we continue moving forward, working honestly to offer our children a better quality of life. Owning a home would be a true blessing—one that would change our lives completely. It would bring us security, stability, and hope. A place where our children could grow in peace and dream beyond the limits of our current reality. This is why I turn to you with humility, trusting that you may be able to help us. I sincerely thank you for your attention and for the noble work that you do. With respect and hope,

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope Team. It is a pleasure to greet you. I write to you with respect and deep gratitude to share a part of our story as a couple and as a family, and to explain why we hope to receive your support. I am 25 years old and the youngest of three sisters. When I was seven, my mother brought us from Oaxaca to Baja California to escape domestic violence, as my father was an alcoholic. My mother worked tirelessly, and I was often alone. That’s when I met my husband, Oscar, who is originally from Tijuana. He started working at a young age, cleaning windshields, helping in stores, and working in construction, as his family struggled to afford even the basics. We became a couple, and our first child, Esdras, was born. Not long after, my husband fell into alcoholism, and over time, so did I. We lost everything. I even attempted to take my own life, but with God’s help and by looking at my son, I found the strength to overcome my addiction. Later, my husband was also able to recover. We were clean and working for five years when I became pregnant with our daughter, Esther Valeria, who is now five years old. She was born prematurely with an underdeveloped lung. She is our little warrior. At eight months old, she developed pneumonia, and all our savings went toward her recovery. By the grace of God, she healed. I always dreamed of getting married, and some members from the church my mother-in-law attends organized our wedding. It was a beautiful moment for us, and since then we have continued to move forward with hope. I trained as a beautician, and through that work, we’ve been able to save enough to purchase a piece of land. Our biggest wish is to build something for our children, to offer them a dignified life, so they don’t have to suffer as we did. That’s why we hope to count on your support to bring more joy into their lives. Thank you for your time, blessings, and a warm embrace.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope Team. I am writing to explain the reason why I am requesting your support. My father and I were jointly paying for a piece of land. Unfortunately, on March 4th of this year, my father passed away, and since then I have taken full responsibility for the payments on the land, as well as the rent for the home where I live with my mother and brother. At the moment, I do not have a stable job; I work as a construction assistant, but the work is not consistent. My partner is currently pregnant and is not working, as she is caring for our three daughters. For this reason, it has become very difficult for me to cover the rent, land payments, daily expenses, and transportation for my daughters to attend school. That is why I turn to you, with hope and faith, to request your support. I sincerely thank you for your time and attention.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope Team. First of all, I want to sincerely thank you and bless you for the beautiful work you do, and thank God for placing the desire to help others in your hearts. Our greatest dream and need has always been to have a home of our own. We have gone through very difficult times living in my in-laws’ house. Even though we paid rent, family differences made life there very hard. Our children were treated unfairly, we were criticized for not having our own home, and that deeply affected us. In an effort to move forward, we acquired a piece of land, but unfortunately, it was not a good choice. It turned out to be unsafe, and we had to give it up, which was very disheartening. It was during that difficult time that we began to get to know God, to have faith, and to place everything in His hands, always asking for His will to be done. That’s when a new piece of land came into our lives—this time in the right place. With renewed faith, we are starting again. God fulfills His promises in His way, in His time, and He never forgets us. Getting to know Him has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. I dream of a home where our children can feel safe. My faith is strong, and now I know it’s possible. Thank you for being part of this beautiful mission that God has placed in your hearts. You are bringing joy to many families.

Salary weekly: $150 US

CHILDREN:

Rafael - 10 years old

Brisia - 8 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope Team. We saw you working and asked about your mission. We would like to request your support—for both ourselves and our children. This is our story: Our son Rafael has been, and continues to be, our miracle. He was born prematurely and did not receive enough oxygen at birth, which caused a delay in his breathing. He spent 15 days in an incubator before being discharged. When he in preschool, we noticed he struggled to express himself clearly. Upon evaluation, we were advised to seek speech therapy. It was then that we learned he had a tongue-tie (lingual frenulum), which prevented him from speaking properly and, as a result, affected his comprehension. Rafael needed surgery and underwent speech therapy for three years. It has been a long and difficult journey—not only due to his health but also because of our financial situation. Consistently taking him to therapy was a challenge. We did everything we could to stay afloat, cutting costs and working together as a family. We decided to pursue a better future by starting our own small business. We bought a car so my husband could work with Uber, while I stayed home to care for our children. After living in the same apartment for ten years, we were asked to vacate, so we took a leap of faith and began searching for a plot of land to build our home. We are a family of four, living alone here in Tijuana. We no longer have any relatives nearby. On December 15, 2023, a tragedy struck. My husband was assaulted at gunpoint. They stole everything—his wallet, money, phone, and the car, which was our only source of income. Thankfully, his life was spared, and for that we are immensely grateful. Still, losing the car meant losing our livelihood. For five months, I was the only one able to work. It was an extremely difficult time. We had no gifts during Christmas, but we still shared joy and love. We cried and suffered; life came to a standstill. We almost moved back with our families, but instead, we found a way to keep moving forward. That is why I am submitting this request—perhaps you can help us. My husband no longer believes in miracles, but I want to show him that God is great and that there is still hope. Any support would mean the world to us. Our family would be truly grateful and happy.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, My name is Montserrath Martínez. I am 25 years old and the mother of two children: César, who is 9, and Jasive Ariel, who is 5. I am their sole provider, as I separated from their father five years ago and receive no support from him. I am reaching out to request your support because I want to provide my children with a safe and stable home. We currently live in a room that was lent to us by my stepfather's daughter. A few months ago, she asked me to leave, and the situation escalated to a legal eviction process. Thankfully, the case was dismissed because there were no legal grounds. I long to give my children a home where we can live in peace and harmony. I moved from Mexico City to Baja California with help from my mother, who supported me in buying a small plot of land. Two years ago, I began working at a factory, where I have a stable job that allows me to pay for our daily expenses and make payments on the land. Having a home of our own would be a true blessing. It would mean we no longer have to live in fear of being forced to leave. This is a part of my story, and I hold on to faith and hope. May God bless you.

FATHER: Andres

Age: 33 years old

Job: truck driver

Salary weekly: $145 US

Andrea - 9 years old

Mateo - 8 years old

Julia - 2 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope Team, we are the Ochoa Contreras family. Nine years ago, we moved to Tijuana in search of a better future for our family. We have four children, although in 2023 we lost our oldest son, who had mosaic syndrome and cerebral palsy. Over the years, we have lived in rental housing. We are a low-income family and live day by day. Since our arrival in Tijuana, we had been renting the same house, but earlier this year, the landlord asked us to leave due to personal reasons. In 2024, we decided to purchase a piece of land. We had saved enough for it, but unfortunately, our youngest daughter became seriously ill with pneumonia and was hospitalized for 20 days. Because of that, we were no longer able to build a small wooden shelter on the land. The cold weather affects her health severely, and she tends to get sick again. We are currently living in a rented wooden room, but it is very small and overcrowded. We have had our land for eleven months now, and in June, it will be a year. We’ve already leveled the ground and built the septic system. A friend told us about Homes of Hope. I visited your website and was deeply moved by the amazing work you do. Every night, I pray to God for help. My mother-in-law treats us poorly, and my husband needs surgery for a kidney stone. I ask Christ to give us strength and to help us—He knows the struggles we face. This time, we feel God heard us. When you contacted us, I couldn't stop crying. It felt like a living hope in the middle of so much darkness. We are sincerely grateful that you took the time to listen and respond to our need. My grandmother always told me that better times would come. Blessings to you all.

Dear Homes of Hope. My name is Karina Pérez García, I am 33 years old and a widow, mother of two girls, María José, 16 years old, and Betsabe, 9 years old. I work in Hunter Industries as an assembler, and my salary is barely enough for the most basic things. I live renting with my sister because alone would not be enough. Furthermore, I pay my land, in addition to the expenses of the school (Quotas, supplies, uniforms, and transportation). We live in a small room where there is no space for them to study well or keep their things. My money is distributed between rent, land, and school. I have nothing left to save or build or buy a house. That is why I ask you from the bottom of my heart for your help to have my own home. A small house would give us peace of mind and a place worthy for my daughters to grow up and study. I could work without the constant concern of where we are going to live. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity.

Emilio - 3 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, I am writing to share with you why having a house would be such an important blessing for me and my son. I have been paying for my lot since November 2023 and have lived on it since August 2024. With help from my parents, I was able to build a small room and a bathroom so I could have a place of my own. I don’t have all the basic services yet, but I try to keep my space clean and welcoming. My main need is space. I currently don’t have a kitchen, and all my furniture is crowded together. The room is not big enough to live in comfortably. I would love to have a separate kitchen and a small living room, and most of all, a room for my son where he can keep his toys and sleep peacefully. I am a single mother. My son and I are the only ones living here, as I separated from his father when my son was just four months old. Besides how beautiful your homes are, I wish I could receive your support so that my son can grow up in a better, more spacious environment. Right now, I earn $350 every two weeks. From that amount, $277 goes to paying for the land. I also spend around $100 on gas, since my job is far and I have to take my son to a cousin who helps take care of him. After food and other expenses, there is nothing left at the end of the month, and I simply cannot afford to build on my own. In July 2024, I was baptized and became part of a Christian church that I attend on Wednesdays and Sundays. The first time I saw one of your houses was when my mother’s neighbor received one. I fell in love with it—it had lights and looked like a gingerbread house. I have been praying for a house for many months. It is one of my deepest hopes. I’m a hardworking woman, and even though I haven’t accomplished many things by the age of 31, having a house would be the fulfillment of a dream. I would turn it into a true home, filled with plants and flowers—another one of my dreams. Thank you for considering my application. I remain available for any further information you may need. May God bless you.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, My name is María. My children and I are originally from Michoacán, a state in southern Mexico. We moved to Tijuana nearly ten years ago. At the time, my former father-in-law was planning to start a catering business, but he became ill and the plan fell through. We began working to support ourselves, but problems started to arise in my marriage. My husband got involved with another woman, and things became very tense at home. There were frequent arguments, so I decided to get a small piece of land and move out for the sake of my children and myself. I’ve been living there for the past seven months, and I’m currently making payments on the land. I’ve built one room and a bathroom on the property, but the space is extremely limited. I even have my kitchen inside that same room. When it rains, water used to leak in, so I had to invest in having the walls sealed. It’s very difficult for me to cover both the cost of the land and the daily needs of my family, which is why I’m asking for your help. I have two children: Juan Ulises, who is in elementary school, and Jacqueline, who is in middle school. The three of us sleep in the same bed because there’s no room for another. It’s just the three of us and our little dog. I work the evening shift at a medical product factory, and while I’m at work, my neighbor helps watch my children. For all of these reasons, I humbly ask for your support. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

First of all, I am deeply grateful to God for your lives and for the beautiful ministry He has allowed you to carry out. The reason my family and I are requesting a home is because, honestly, I do not have the financial means to build one on my own. It is very difficult for me to pay both rent and the land at the same time, especially since I am currently the only one working in our household. There are weeks when I manage to get by, but many others when it becomes a real struggle. Having a home of our own would be a tremendous help, as it would allow us to stop paying rent and finally live in a place we can call ours. We have been praying to God for this home, hoping that one day we will also be able to bless other families in need. My greatest desire as a father and head of my family is to see my children grow up in a place of their own, even if we have to start from scratch. Thank you sincerely for your attention and support.
