LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, Greetings from the Tapia Pérez family. We are originally from Michoacán, a state in southern Mexico, and have been living in Tijuana for the past four years. Our family consists of five members: my husband, Víctor Manuel Tapia Cervantes, who is 42 years old; our three sons, Ángel Manuel Tapia Pérez (17), Víctor Alexis Tapia Pérez (13), and Cristian Alejandro Tapia Pérez (8); and myself, María del Carmen Pérez López, currently 37 years old. We made the difficult decision to leave our hometown due to the violence and drug trafficking that turned it into a dangerous place. We were charged fees just to live and work, criminals would break into our home to hide from the police or rival groups, and we lived in constant fear for our lives. They even threatened to take our children away to force them into working for them. These conditions drove us to seek a safer future. A neighbor who fled before us told us about Tijuana and the possibility of seeking asylum in the United States. We arrived in Tijuana in August 2021 and were welcomed by her. Unfortunately, we did not have the necessary support to continue to the United States, so we decided to stay and start over in Tijuana. We arrived with nothing but a change of clothes and a strong will to rebuild our lives. Thankfully, we found a place to rent, and the landlord kindly lent us some furniture, as we were initially sleeping on a board with just blankets. Currently, my husband and my oldest son work in construction to support the family. Sadly, my son had to leave school to help with expenses. A year after arriving in Tijuana, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and anemia, which damaged my lungs due to my previous agricultural work and poor nutrition. I sometimes clean houses, but my health limits me. Most of my time is spent taking care of our home and walking my younger sons to and from school every day, despite my condition. About a year and a half ago, my husband and I purchased a piece of land, which we are paying off in monthly installments, with the hope of one day building a decent home for our children. This has placed a heavy strain on our finances, forcing us to cut back even on necessary medications for myself. Still, we remain motivated to move forward. That is why we are reaching out to you, Homes of Hope, with faith that you might help us build a home. It would be an enormous blessing for our family.

FAMILY INFORMATION

MOTHER: Claudia

Age: 30 years old

Job: pharmacy worker

Salary weekly: $125 US

CHILDREN:

Inna - 11 years old

Iker - 9 years old

Jesus - 5 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

I greet you warmly and sincerely wish that God continues to bless you. I’m truly thankful for the opportunity you’re giving us, and I have all the faith and hope that we will be blessed with your support to help us build our home. I’d like to share a bit about our situation and the reason why I’ve taken the step to ask for help. I know there are people in much more difficult situations, without homes and in extreme poverty, and thankfully that is not our case. We currently rent a home and I have a job that has allowed me to provide the essentials for my children. We don’t live in luxury, but we have what we need. However, with the cost of rent, the land payment, and daily expenses, it’s impossible for me to even consider building a house for my kids. In 2022, after a lot of effort and sacrifice, I committed to buying a piece of land. I’ve been able to keep up with all payments, as it’s my dream to see my children grow up there. That’s why I’m asking from the heart that you consider us and give us the chance to build our home. I want to give my children a place where they can enjoy their childhood, play, run, and just be kids. Right now, we don’t have a yard or much space where we live. If we’re selected, I commit to building little by little, as much as I’m able. Not having to pay rent would make a big difference. Currently, I have a partner who helps me financially and supports my children as well. We’ve been together for over a year, but we haven’t moved in together or formalized our relationship because he has three children, and I have three—so it would be quite difficult. We all get along, and sometimes they stay over, but we don’t live together. I’m making this request for the benefit of my children. Thank you again, and may God bless the beautiful work you do.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello, We’re writing this letter to ask for your support, with our hearts in our hands and our faith in God, hoping you can help us build a home that gives our children a better quality of life. There are times when we feel like giving up. Sometimes we can't even afford groceries or school supplies because it's too hard to keep paying both rent and the land installment. With a lot of effort and sacrifice, we managed to save enough for a down payment so we could start something of our own. But in moments of despair, we’ve thought about giving up—though we believe God has a purpose for us and that one day our hard work will be rewarded. Right now, we’re renting a small wooden house with a tin roof. It gets very cold, and when it rains, water comes in through the roof and floor. Buying furniture or appliances isn’t an option, but thank God we’ve been loaned beds and a washing machine. God is good and hasn’t let us go, and we truly believe this opportunity is His doing. Our children ask every day for a warm home to sleep in. We eat at a foldable table, and our stove only has two burners—it leaks gas, but we can’t afford a new one. We don’t receive any government support. We’re hardworking people, and our biggest dream is to give our children a dignified home. The clothes we have are just the basics—most come from secondhand markets or are gifts. Our jobs don’t pay much, but they let us keep up with rent and the land payments. Sometimes we ask our landlord for more time because we can’t make rent, though we know he won’t be able to wait forever. With faith and from the bottom of our hearts, we ask for your help. It doesn’t matter if it’s small—we just want a warm and safe home for our children. Thank you so much for giving us this chance to share our story.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello, I’m writing to ask for your support, as we’re going through a tough financial time and need help to build our home. Right now, I don’t have a steady job, which makes things really hard for us. My wife works part-time, and I also work part-time doing Uber deliveries on a motorcycle. What we earn is just enough to get by day to day and keep up with the land payments, but it’s not enough to start building. We’ve been living in a small room at my in-laws’ house for the past two years. Since our baby was born—he’s now eight months old—the space has become even tighter and it’s getting harder. With all respect and from the heart, we’re asking for your support. We trust in your kindness and in God’s blessing to help us build a decent home for our family. Any help, no matter how small, would mean a lot to us right now. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer. We send this message with gratitude and hope.

MOTHER: Estela

Joanna - 16 years old

Claudio - 14 years old

Michel - 12 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

My name is Estela Marín Martínez. I am 40 years old and was born in Guerrero, a state located in southern Mexico. In 2006, I moved to Rosarito, Baja California, where I met the father of my children at my first job. In 2008, my first daughter was born, and I left my job to care for her. In 2010, my son was born, and two years later, my youngest daughter arrived. During this time, I devoted myself entirely to raising my children. However, in January 2019, our lives changed drastically when the father of my children abandoned us to start another family. He left us completely alone, without any financial support. We did not hear from him for two years. That same year, I had to find work to support my children and myself. While I worked, a friend took care of my children and helped take them to school. Later, this friend and her partner offered us a place to live — a small room they built on their property. I took the opportunity and worked hard to secure a loan for the down payment on a piece of land. I have now been the owner of my land for four years. Some time ago, the father of my children reestablished contact with us and currently provides financial support. On March 21, 2024, with the help of my friend and her partner, I was able to build a small room on my land and move there with my children. Everything was going well until a month ago, when I was informed that the company I worked for had gone bankrupt, and all employees were laid off. I have been unemployed since January 22 and have been actively searching for new employment without success. With my severance pay, I was able to make four payments on my land and purchase groceries. We are currently living with the financial support we receive from the children's father, which we use for food and other basic needs. Several people told me about your organization and the wonderful help you provide. I am reaching out today, hoping to receive your support. I would be deeply grateful to you and everyone who makes this possible. May God bless you all. Thank you very much.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello Homes of Hope, I am reaching out with the hope of finding support during a time of great personal and family need. The purpose of this letter is to request assistance in obtaining a home through your organization. In recent months, my financial situation has been severely affected by unforeseen circumstances, making it very difficult to secure stable housing for my family. We are a family of four, including a child under my care. Until recently, we had adequate housing, but due to strong winds and heavy rains, part of our home was destroyed. This sudden change has deeply impacted our physical and emotional well-being. We understand that many families are going through similar or even more critical situations, but I still want to respectfully ask for your help or guidance on how we might qualify for a housing program that could help us through this time of instability. We are willing to meet any requirements and contribute in any way possible to improve our situation. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to share more details about our circumstances. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I truly hope we can count on your support to bring stability and safety back to our family.

Dear members of Homes of Hope, We reach out to you with the hope that you can support us with a home. I am a stay-at-home mother of a six-year-old daughter, and I care for her full-time because I have no one else to help me with her care. My husband works at a factory, and we rely entirely on his income. We are currently living in a small room that someone lent us, but the owners have been asking us to leave for some time now. We haven’t moved out because we simply don’t have the resources to pay rent. While searching for help, I came across your organization and the lives you’ve changed, which gave me the courage to contact you. With great effort, we’ve been making monthly payments on a piece of land, hoping to give our daughter a better future. However, due to our limited income, it has been very difficult to build anything on it. That is why your support would be a true blessing for our family. Thank you in advance for your kind attention and for taking the time to read this letter.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello Homes of Hope team. It is a pleasure to greet you. Four and a half years ago, we moved to Rosarito, Baja California. We made the decision to leave the state of Morelos, in southern Mexico, due to the high levels of crime there. A cousin kindly allowed us to use a room, which we covered with wood and placed flooring in, since rent prices are very high and we cannot afford to cover all our expenses. With great effort, we were able to pay the down payment for a piece of land and began making monthly payments. However, we cannot afford to build a house while also paying for the land. Where we currently live, the cold is intense, and the strong winds in recent months have caused us to get sick frequently. A friend told us about Homes of Hope and said that you might be able to help us with a home. We are a family of four, currently living in a single room without divisions, which is actually a garage. During the rainy season, the walls become damp and rainwater flows down the stairs, worsening our living conditions. On behalf of my family, we sincerely thank you for considering us. May God bless you.

The place we live in is cramped, and that is why we long for a dignified and welcoming home, with your support and God’s blessing. I am originally from Villahermosa, Tabasco, in southern Mexico, and I came here searching for a better future for myself and my three children. I was fortunate to find work here, and someone offered me a place to stay, which has allowed me to send money to my children. I even purchased a plot of land, hoping to bring them here soon. I entered into a relationship with someone I believed would support me, but he was unfaithful, and I became pregnant. I was hospitalized twice due to the risk of miscarriage, but thankfully, both my baby and I are doing well. I continue working and am once again on my own. I now live with my mother and brother in a small wooden room with no flooring, which is not suitable for my baby. I do not have the financial means to build even a basic wooden home, so any support you can offer would be deeply appreciated.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello, we are the Santos Aniceto family. We’ve been together for eight years, and for the past three, we’ve been making payments on a piece of land in hopes of giving our daughters a better future. However, it’s been difficult to make progress because we also pay rent, and our income is not enough to cover all our expenses. Saving to build a home has become nearly impossible. Over the years, the only thing we’ve managed to do is dig out the land, but the dream of building a house feels further away each day. Our situation became even more challenging with the arrival of our baby, as the pregnancy was high-risk due to diabetes and hypothyroidism. This led to missed work, reduced income, and unpaid debts. A few years ago, we reached out to you in hopes of receiving your support, but now more than ever, we truly need your help. We sincerely ask that you become a miracle in our lives—just like our youngest daughter, who came to us when we thought we could no longer have children. She was an answered prayer, and we believe that having a home will be, too. Thank you so much for the work you do. May God bless you greatly.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello everyone. My name is Ianeli Sánchez Solís, and I’d like to share a little bit about myself and my family’s story. My husband and I have been together for nearly eleven years. We met in Guadalajara, where we both lived at the time. I had a daughter who was nine years old, and he had a son who was three. We both came from difficult relationships, but we fell in love and decided to start over together. Not long after, my daughter went to live with my parents, which caused me to fall into a deep depression. At the same time, my husband wasn’t allowed to see his son because of issues with his ex-partner, and he began to drink and use drugs. One day someone spoke to me about God. At first, I didn’t want to listen. But my husband’s mother gently spoke to me about how great and loving God is. Little by little, I began to believe. I prayed that my husband would change and that God would bless us with the family we longed for. Even though his addiction worsened, his mother kept telling me to have faith, that God would change him. And He did. One day, my husband told me he wanted to change. I called his mom, and together — he and I in our room, and his mother on the phone — we prayed and welcomed God into our hearts. That day changed everything. Months before, I had fallen off a motorcycle and could barely walk. I had also been trying to get pregnant for almost two years with no success. But after that prayer, my knee healed and I became pregnant. I know it was God. We decided to move to Rosarito, even though it was a hard decision because it meant being further away from our children. But I always told my husband that it wouldn’t be for long, and that with faith, they would be with us again. Since we gave our lives to God, my husband has not touched alcohol or drugs. Eight months after moving to Rosarito, our son Zabdiel was born. Two years later, my daughter came to live with us. The only one missing is his son, but we trust that in God’s time, he too will be with us. In the meantime, we continue to pray for that day. We’ve been through a lot, and our biggest dream is to have a home of our own. Sometimes we sit and talk about what it will be like — what colors we’ll paint the walls, what we’ll add to it. Just imagining it fills us with joy. With faith, we saved enough money to make a down payment on a piece of land. And with that same faith, we ask you to consider our family. We know many families share this same dream, but we continue to pray and hope for the blessing of a home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the wonderful work you do. You’ve brought so much happiness to many families. This is our story — a reminder that we should never lose faith. Even when we can’t see Him, God is always working. And we trust He will bless our family too. We hope to meet you soon. God bless you.

FAMILY INFORMATION

FATHER: Angel

Age: 31 years old

Job: Factory worker

Weekly salary: $190 US

Matias - 3 years old

Angel - 6 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

My name is Ángel Daniel Bautista Salazar. I’m originally from Veracruz, in southern Mexico, and I’ve been living in Tijuana for the past eight years. I came here hoping for a better life. In Tijuana, I met the mother of my children. We were together for a few years before deciding to separate. We have two sons: Ángel Mateo Bautista Espinoza, who is 6, and Matías Emiliano Bautista Espinoza, who is 3. I currently live with my father and his wife, who have been renting their apartment for many years. I moved in with them after the separation. They have been a great help, especially with taking care of my children while I work. My father loves his grandsons deeply, and they adore him. Last year, I made the decision to begin making monthly payments on a piece of land, hoping to one day build a home for my children. I don’t want them to grow up renting like I did. We never had a house of our own growing up; we always rented. I pray every day to become a better person, a better son, and most of all, a better father. Life hasn’t been easy for me. I had to drop out of school and start working in the fields at a very young age. Now, all I want is to give my sons a chance at a good life, where they can study and grow up to be honest men. I worked for eight years at a company, but last year I was laid off due to a drop in production. I used the severance money to continue paying for the land, rent, school, food, diapers, and other necessities for my children. I also sent money to my mother in Veracruz, who is ill and unable to work. I’m reaching out to ask for your help because I don’t have the means to build a home for my children. I was unemployed for four months, and it was very difficult to find a stable job. Many positions were temporary or had rotating shifts. But I never gave up, and thankfully, I was recently hired for a permanent job with a stable schedule from Monday to Friday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. I registered on your online page in March last year, after a coworker told me about the amazing work you do. At first, my application didn’t appear, but recently I received a call from you, and it brought us so much hope. I told my sons that you might be able to help us, and they were so excited about the idea of having a home where they can play freely and have more space. Another reason I’m requesting your help is that the owner of the apartment we live in told my father that only two people are allowed to stay there, and gave us until last month to move out or reduce the number of people. We’ve been searching, but most places don’t accept children, or the rent is too high, or they’re too far from my job and my son’s school. We truly need your help. My children deserve a safe, happy place to grow up in. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the incredible work you do. We send you a warm hug with all our gratitude.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello, my name is Magalí Jiménez Reyes. I hope this message finds you well, and I send you warm greetings. I’m writing to share a little about myself and my family. I’m 29 years old and originally from Oaxaca, a state in southern Mexico. I come from a low-income family and have two sisters. My father passed away when I was eight years old. He struggled with alcoholism, and after his death, my mother left me with my father's family while she moved to Rosarito with my younger sister. During the time I stayed with my paternal relatives, I suffered abuse from an uncle. That’s when I decided to leave my grandmother’s home and start working at a very young age. Sadly, my mother began a new life in Rosarito and forgot about me. At fifteen, I met the father of my children. I started living with him, and by eighteen, I had my first child. Those were difficult years—he was unfaithful and an alcoholic. Later, I got pregnant with our second child. When I realized he wasn’t going to change, I decided to leave him and move to Rosarito in search of work and to find my mother again. I couldn’t find work in Oaxaca, and I needed to care for my children. Coming to Rosarito was very hard, as I had no support from my mother or anyone else. I started working and enrolled my kids in daycare, but when my daughter got sick and I asked for time off, I was let go. With no income or help, I returned to the children’s father. We decided to give our relationship another try. He changed, quit drinking, and we had our third child. He later tried to cross into the United States but was unsuccessful. So we stayed and worked together, saving everything we could to make a down payment on a piece of land—our dream is to give our children a home of their own. Sometimes money is tight, but we do our best to keep up with the monthly payments. I don’t want my children, especially my daughter, to go through the kind of pain I experienced. Even if our future home is small, I know it would be a safe and loving place for them. I hope you can help us achieve the dream of having a home. Thank you so much for your time and kindness. We send you our warmest greetings and blessings.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

I am writing to ask for your help in providing a decent home for our family. Despite our best efforts, it has been very difficult for us to build a proper house. Let me tell you a little about us. My husband works as a taxi driver, but the cost of renting a taxi is very high. For a long time we have been paying both rent and the payments for our land, which has made it even harder to save money to build our house. We also have a young daughter with a mental disability who regularly attends therapy, and the cost of her treatment is quite expensive for us. As a result, saving for a house has become almost impossible. However, we believe that you are the answer to our prayers. You have been a light in our lives during these difficult times. I, Gladys, work in sales because I need to be available to take care of my daughter and attend her therapy sessions. Recently we have also been very worried about our relatives who still live in southern Chiapas, a place we had to leave with a heavy heart. It's a very poor area, with few job opportunities, and unfortunately organized crime has entered the region, turning what was once a peaceful place into a dangerous one. It is with all our hearts that we ask you to consider our request. We are a hardworking family, and we truly believe that God has led us to Homes of Hope to help us through this difficult time. Thank you and I pray that you will be blessed.
