LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, we send you a warm greeting and hope you are doing well. We are a family of five; my husband works as a construction laborer, and we have a child with a disability. We all live in a single room, very crowded, which my husband built on our land, and we have been living here for about a year. We have not been able to expand this small space because my husband does not have steady work, making it very difficult for us to save, as most of our income goes toward paying for the land. Thank you very much for everything you do.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, as is commonly understood, a household is usually made up of parents and children; however, in our case, I am also responsible for my parents, who are 86 and 83 years old, as well as an unmarried brother who is 53. We decided to acquire a piece of land because we were living in an Infonavit house, which was far too small for our family’s needs. We trust that God will grant us the life and strength necessary to move forward, as at times our situation becomes very challenging. I do not currently work outside the home, as I care for my children and my elderly parents. Although we do not have luxuries, God has never withdrawn His mercy from us, and we are blessed with a loving family where His presence prevails. It brings me great joy to care for my parents, and I am deeply grateful for my husband, who is a devoted father and a constant support to our family. With great effort, we managed to save enough money to level the land, but when our child became ill, those funds had to be used for medical care, preventing us from making further progress. Receiving your message filled me with hope, as having a place of our own has long been a dream of mine—a home where we can begin a new chapter and where our children can witness the perseverance and dedication with which we strive to move forward. We sincerely thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, I am the fourth and youngest daughter of a single mother who worked three jobs with great effort to provide for us, and from her I learned the value of sacrifice, strength, and unconditional family love. Growing up, we moved from house to house and I never had a space of my own, sleeping alongside my sisters in the living rooms of my aunts’ homes. My husband also had a difficult childhood; his mother passed away when he was twelve, and from then on he moved between relatives’ homes. Today, together we have formed a beautiful family, which includes my mother who suffers from diabetes, as we want to give her a peaceful place where she can rest and live with dignity while we care for her. As a family, our greatest material dream has been to own a home, understanding that a home is more than just a roof—it represents security, stability, and well-being for those we love most. Sadly, we have experienced deception and fraud; in 2020 we were scammed during a land transfer, and in 2022 a cousin who had been living with us took her own life, leaving us overwhelmed with grief and guilt, and our savings were used to cover funeral expenses. Despite additional hardships and losses, in 2023 another opportunity to purchase land arose, and relatives lent us money, part of which we still owe, encouraging us to build the house first and repay them gradually. Everything we have endured, though painful, has made us stronger and has deepened our appreciation for what it means to have a home. We trust in God and believe that organizations like yours bring hope to families like ours. We are deeply grateful for your noble work and continue forward in faith, working hard and dreaming of the day when we can open the door and say, “This is our home.”

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, I am originally from the state of Guerrero and have two children; I live in a common-law relationship. I came to Tijuana three years ago seeking a better life, as there was a great deal of violence in the mountain region where I lived, and my family in Tijuana offered to help me leave that situation. At first, I lived with my aunt until I found a job and was able to rent a small room and slowly acquire basic necessities for my children and me; while I worked, my aunt cared for them since they were not yet in school. When I met my current partner, he began helping me, and together we saved enough to purchase a piece of land because we dream of having a place of our own. I later became ill and could no longer continue working, which caused us to fall behind on the land payments and nearly lose it, but thank God we were able to keep it. We then bought wood to build a small room so we would no longer have to pay rent, but it is very small and not a comfortable home, especially during the rainy season when it becomes very cold. Through some neighbors we learned about you, and we hold onto the hope and faith in God that you might be able to help us. May God bless you.

Dear Homes of Hope team, I am originally from Escuinapa, Sinaloa, and was taken to live on a ranch, where at the age of sixteen I began living with my husband; a year and a half later our first child was born, and three years after that our second daughter. My husband worked as an assistant driller in the mines, and we were very happy until organized crime began causing violence in the area, with frequent shootings that forced many families, including ours, to flee their ranches. We moved to Tijuana following my mother and siblings; although there is work here, the cost of living is much higher. My husband and I both worked in a factory, but when our third daughter was born I had to resign, and my severance pay was used for the down payment on our land; however, we have not been able to build because our older children are now in secondary school and my husband lost his job and is currently working as a construction helper. For these reasons, we respectfully request your support to help us build a small home, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your consideration.

FAMILY INFORMATION

MOTHER: Ana Karen

Age: 29 years old

Job: business owner

Salary weekly: $171 US

CHILDREN:

Kael - 6 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, my name is Ana Karen, and I am a single mother to Kael, who is six years old. From a very young age, I have longed to build a home and create meaningful memories alongside my son. I consider myself a hardworking woman; at the age of twelve I told my mother that I dreamed of having a family and building a home, and that desire only grew stronger over time. I began working at fourteen, gradually acquiring what I could while paying for my studies, always focused on reaching university. Shortly before starting college, I met the man who would become my son’s father. Midway through my university studies, an opportunity arose to purchase a piece of land in a new neighborhood called Hacienda Mazatlán, and despite my fear—since it was a significant investment and I had planned to use my savings to buy a car due to transportation challenges—I chose to use that money for the down payment. On October 11, 2018, I signed for the land, unaware that God had already given me the blessing of motherhood; on November 7, I learned I was two months pregnant, an unplanned and difficult reality to process at the time, as I was only halfway through my degree, twenty-two years old, and in a complicated and emotionally exhausting relationship. My pregnancy was challenging, filled with tears, doubt, and self-blame, as I continued working and studying while my son’s father gradually distanced himself and made poor decisions. After my son was born, I completed my degree but did not practice professionally in order to care for him, and the instability at home escalated until the relationship ended due to violence. The separation deeply affected me, leading to severe depression and a period in which my mother cared for Kael while I struggled to find purpose and hope. Over time, through work, faith, and the support of a Christian community, I found healing and direction. Today, I have resumed my life project with renewed faith, focusing on building a stable and loving home for my son, actively seeking God every day, studying theology, serving in my church, and steadily approaching full ownership of my land. Being a single mother has been difficult, but I have learned to trust in God, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and hope that you offer.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY: Dear Homes of Hope team, we respectfully request your support due to our need for a dignified home, as we do not have sufficient financial resources to build one on our own. My husband and I decided to start a family four years ago, initially renting a home in Tijuana, and a few months later we were blessed with the news that we were expecting a baby, which significantly increased our expenses and made it difficult to keep up with rent payments. Because of this, we sought help from my mother-in-law, who allowed us to live in a room at her home in Rosarito, giving us the opportunity to begin saving toward the down payment for our own piece of land. Thanks to God, we later learned about your organization and decided to begin this process with faith and hope, trusting first in God and also in you. We sincerely thank you for taking the time to read our story.

Dear Homes of Hope team, I am a single mother who fights every day to move forward together with my three children. I am originally from Guerrero, and we came to Tijuana in 2011 after being dispossessed of our land by organized crime. I am a single mother because both of my former partners treated me very poorly; I suffered abuse and significant violence. From 2023 to 2025, I lived in the United States with my children, but we returned after my political asylum case was denied. We came back with nothing, and starting over has been very difficult. Currently, I support my family by buying secondhand items and selling them at the swap meet, so my income is unstable and varies greatly. I have been paying for my small piece of land for two years now and struggle to stay current on the payments. My greatest dream has always been to have a small home for my children, and I pray constantly to God for this blessing. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, my name is Nataly. I completed high school and then decided to study cosmetology. My parents paid for my studies, and I spent my days at my sister’s home in Rosarito, where I met Fernando. We were friends for eight months and then became a couple. Six months later, I became pregnant, and we decided to take responsibility and start a life together. Fernando paints cars, which is how he supports our family. He had a very difficult childhood and had to start working at a very young age, at just 13 years old, which is why he wanted me not to work and instead focus on caring for our son so he could have a better childhood. About nine months ago, we purchased our piece of land, but almost all of our income goes toward paying for the land and rent, which is why we have not been able to start building our house. I try to help by selling items and doing occasional makeup or hair jobs so he does not feel so pressured. On our land, we want to secure the future of our son and ourselves, spend more time together, and reduce expenses that do not go toward our own property. Thank you for this beautiful project; we hope to be able to begin a better future.

At first, I came alone to look for work because there are few opportunities in our home state, and after seven months I brought my wife and our son, who was two years old at the time. We rented for almost 14 years, and in 2021 we decided to purchase a piece of land, which marked the beginning of our family project. In December 2023, we moved onto our land, where we built a small wooden house, installed a septic system, and continued working little by little to establish our home. Our house is small and modest, but we are happy, and we hope to count on your support so we can now build a proper, well-constructed home for our children.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, when I met my wife, I asked her out and invited her to the movies and for tacos, and little by little we got to know each other until I found the courage to ask her to be my girlfriend. She introduced me to her daughters, we got along very well, and we decided to start a life together. Since then, we have faced obstacles united and with calm, and in this way we have managed to overcome even the smallest difficulties. We are responsible for two girls and one boy, and we strive to raise them in the best possible way. A woman helps us take care of them while we work, and when we return home, we check their homework; they respect us, and I love them very much. I feel honored that my wife chose me as her life partner. We are requesting a home so we can provide the children with a better place to live—a dignified house where they can grow up with their own space—since we do not have the financial resources to achieve this on our own. Thank you for listening to us and for taking us into consideration.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, I write to you with a heart full of hope, driven by the need to provide my family with a dignified home. I thank you for the opportunity you offer and would like to share our story. I’m from Oaxaca and came to Tijuana in search of a better life. My partner is from Tijuana—we met four years ago and decided to start a relationship. He told me he had a five-year-old son, Ian Omar, whom he was raising on his own because the mother wasn’t involved. That’s how the three of us became a family and began renting a room. We decided to look for a plot of land so we could feel more at ease. Ian got sick due to severe allergies, and our money barely covered our needs. In December 2022, we found out I was pregnant—it was a beautiful moment, but also a big challenge. We started selling things on the weekends to earn a bit more money, which allowed us to pay the down payment on the land. When our baby was born, we built a small wooden room on the land—it meant a lot to us, but then the rains came, and everything we owned got soaked. For the children’s health, we decided to move in with my mother, who lives nearby. Around that time, Ian’s mother showed up saying she now had financial stability, and she took him to live with her. It was hard to see him go. We kept working on fixing up our little wooden room—it no longer leaks, but it’s still very cold. A few months ago, we went through a tough financial time and Alfredo’s salary wasn’t enough. Thankfully, I found a job at a grocery store. The pay isn’t great, but they allow me to bring my baby with me. Alfredo now sends child support to Ian’s mother, and we’re doing ok. We dream of having a proper home where we can eat, sleep, and welcome Ian for weekend visits. Thank you for this opportunity—there are no words to express our gratitude. May God bless and protect you.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, 7 years ago, I came to Tijuana seeking to provide stability for my children. It was a very difficult decision, but I was only earning 900 pesos a week, and my husband couldn’t find a steady job. This was our last attempt to change our situation. I moved in with a brother in a tiny 3x2 meter room with a bunk bed—we didn’t even fit in the space. I brought my youngest children and was able to get them into school. My other son couldn't come because his father didn’t allow it, and I spent weeks without any news from him, which made it very hard for me to stay calm and trust in God. My youngest son began getting sick often, and since we didn’t have health insurance, we had to pay for private doctors, which took all our money. My son started working, and I offered to make breakfast and lunch for them, which allowed me to earn a little more. I still had no news from my other son and wanted to get him back. Thankfully, I got legal help and, after three years, I was able to bring him with me. A year ago, we started making payments on a plot of land. Now, my husband is thinking of leaving us, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to continue paying both rent and the land, which is why I just want to move onto the land, even without electricity, as long as it’s a stable place for my family. Thank you for helping so many people.

Dear Homes of Hope team, we are from Chiapas and have been here in Tijuana for about 10 years. I came seeking opportunities after being severely beaten while pregnant with my daughter, who is now 11 years old—I ended up in the hospital, and that’s why I ran away. I’ve moved from rental to rental, but they would either ask me to leave or raise the rent too much. Finally, someone lent me a tiny 2x2 meter room. Then I was laid off from my job, and with that severance money, I was able to put a down payment on a plot of land and buy some wood. My friends are helping me build a small room, and that’s why I’m seeking the blessing of a home—a dignified and beautiful place for my daughters. Dear Homes of Hope team, I want to explain why I long to have a Casita de Esperanza. As a child, I didn’t have a home with a mother and father—I was raised by my grandparents. My childhood was not a happy one; I suffered many abuses. All I ever wanted was to be with my parents, but they didn’t want me, so I ran away and went to live with another family. I was 12 years old and working to try to buy a house, but in that home they tried to abuse me. At 14, I went back to look for my parents, but they still didn’t want me, so I started working as a mechanic. Later, my parents arranged for me to live with a man 26 years older than me. I had my children and kept working because I dreamed of having a home. At 22, I moved out to live alone with my kids—I rented. When the oldest four grew up, we decided to try our luck in Tijuana. We worked day and night to buy our land. We were happy, but then I had an accident and couldn’t work anymore. My son now takes care of us, and I sell snacks. On top of that, my husband fell and broke his hand, and he also hasn’t been able to find work. We still have five children under our care, and we haven’t been able to build a proper home. I dream of having one so we don’t have to endure the cold anymore. I pray to God with all my heart for this blessing. I believe God placed you in my path, and I thank you with all my heart.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, our story began in August 2016 when, due to political problems, we moved to Tijuana from the south, seeking peace. A high school friend opened her home to us while I looked for a place for my family. The following week, I enrolled my children in school, which I found quickly thanks to their good grades. Soon after, my son got hepatitis, and the doctor recommended rest, so I had to quit my job. I moved in with another friend who was also struggling with rent—we slept in the living room, and I would cry silently, wondering why life had dealt me this hand. I started working the night shift at NIPRO and rented a small room so I could care for my kids. Since then, we’ve moved around a lot, always renting, either because we were asked to leave or to be closer to work. In 2020, I got news that my grandfather—who was like a father to me—had passed away, so I saved up and we went to visit family. When we returned, I had to move and change jobs again. This cycle continued until 2022 when I met my partner; it began with a nice friendship. I told him I couldn’t go out much because my money was already committed—I had a goal of buying land. In March 2024, we decided to live together and built a small shack on the plot we were offered. They let us pay the down payment in installments. After moving in, a neighbor told us about your organization, and here we are—grateful to God for allowing us this opportunity. We are determined to finally have something of our own and stop moving from place to place like we used to.

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Dear Homes of Hope team, I'm originally from the beautiful state of Guerrero and come from a very humble family. My mother only finished elementary school, and my father is illiterate, working as a construction laborer. I grew up in an environment full of abuse, especially toward my mother and siblings. This led to a series of sad and painful events in my life. I loved going to school and got good grades, but my family situation caused me to make poor decisions. I ran away from home with the father of my first two children while I was in the first year of high school. That brought even more suffering than I had already experienced. We lived with his parents, where I helped sell fruit in a stall without pay, only receiving food. I decided to leave and moved to Manzanillo with my two brothers and children, empty-handed because the children's father didn’t want to give me anything. Later, I met the father of my daughter Mia—it was the same story. I rushed into the relationship and ended up experiencing psychological abuse that destroyed my self-esteem. He was aggressive and once even threw a car at me. When I finally separated from him, he took Mia one day, and his partner stabbed her in the shoulder. Later, at school, Ximena was bullied and had her arm broken. Because of all this, I decided to move to Rosarito, where I learned to bake, and with that, I’ve been supporting my children. We currently rent a small house near my plot of land. I found out about your organization on social media and I thank you with all my heart if you could help us.
